The least said about today’s performance, the better. Will comment more specific after next game. Can’t help but say that some players from the east needs to really step up. Mark Snyman in class of his own today. I believe we should also not hold back on these players (good or bad). All of them have lucrative contracts for next year. A position many a young player wishes to be in. Welcome to the professional world boys. You better start performing – pressure only gets worse.
Wow, that was disappointing. Said it earlier in the thread, I am not a fan of playing people out of position and today did nothing to change my opinion.
@Hooit: Well done en baie geluk.
Well done to all the boys and their parents.
I have to agree with the comments of @MikeSt:
Parents invest a lot of time, effort and money into their children’s lives.
Bad luck to those that have missed out on selection. This isn’t the end of the road though. I have always maintained that you can’t keep a good man down!
Congratulations to all the boys selected and also their parents. Enjoy the reward for years, months and hours of long hard work and never forget the support from your parents who has been there for you all the way.
As a matter of interest how many boys selected parents are on the Blog.
@Bush: And not just at CW. I had the misfortune of watching him play against Garsies last year and he is brilliant. The only player in school rugby whom I cannot wait to see ball in hand when I watch him play.
And the FS 7 was great ball in hand, on defence and supreme in the lineouts, very sorry for him.
@Rainier: Have to agree about Cary. I believe it is the best I have ever seen him play. I always had a question around his defense but boy did he proof me wrong this CW.
Then I also believe playing players out of a position is a slap in the face of players that do play that position on a regular basis.
Many a player career have been stuffed-up due to this. I don’t care what NZ does.
At school level Beytell currently a great example of this….
Baie geluk @Hooit. Kwagga n great aanwins vir die span..
Kom ons hoop maar julle kry meer games teen die A liga skole of nog better julle kom A liga toe.
@Rainier: wing and fullback aren’t that different which is why they could afford to pick 3 fullbacks 4 if you include Appolis. Best players in New Zealand do it all the time e.g. Dagg, Smith , Milner-skhuder.. Combrink the same. I agree that Cary especially was unlucky to get overlooked
How do you pick a team with only 1 wing? I hate it when players are played out of position, and it is an insult to the players in that position that is not chosen. I believe Nkabinde did more than enough to warrant selection, and Cary is the most dangerous runner in space I have seen this year.
The SWD 1, EP 3, WP 4 and FS 7 are players that have the ability to make the step up after school.
Congrats to Diego, hopefully he will play in his correct position.
Woensdag teen Parel Vallei gespeel en more teen PRG sodat almal darem n game kry.
(Meeste punte ook aangeteken by akademie week)
“congratulations are in order”. Indien ek reg is, sal jy verstaan. Indien ek verkeerd is, vra ek om verskoning.
Dink hy skop beter as nogals, snaaks genoeg was hy die beste skopper U13 CW.
@guts-and-glory: Sorry that was purely a typing oversight. Even though I’m from KZN I’ve known about Muller virtually since the time he was at Klein Gim.
@VaskopVleuel: Tinus Combrinck and Prince Nkabinde were definitely 2 of the CW surprises for me.
If it was my team Tinus would have made it. I feel that in a squad of 28 you need a 3rd scrumhalf as its a specialist position. The other 2 specialist positions are covered in 5 props and 2 hookers + Richardson to cover hooker. As I see it now in the event of a late withdrawal of a 9 or even Schreuder at 10 (where Nohamba the 9 covers) will result in a W/Cape local having to be called up. The 18/10 split of forwards to backs is overkill. So in a match day squad of 23 with 7 backs starting and 3 customary reserves, there is no backup in the backline = no room to change. A bit shortsighted by the selectors.
Prince Nkabinde was great in both games I watched but I sensed some work needed to be done on his skills. Also it was a CW where defensive passion was generally very lacking and so very difficult to assess the capabilities of non-mainstream school players in this vital area of the game. I regret saying this because I love the idea that boys can come out of so called no-name schools and make it big. I hope Prince goes on to achieve great things after school. Size, speed and enthusiasm look to be on his side.
Congrats to all the players and their schools.
Yes ! As always, there is quite a number of unfortunates who missed out. However, the team is now selected, and we need to support it.

@Hooit: Tog vreemd dat Noordvaal altyd dieselfde is, m.a.w. Leeus wenners speel Bulle wenners in semi.
Nelspruit teen EG. Monnas vs EG by monnas.
@Smallies: Dankie.
@Djou: gotcha dankie
@Smallies: Hooit is ‘n groot “en goeie” meneer! Werk dit self uit.
@Hooit: Well done en baie geluk.
@Hooit: baie geluk mnr, hakker of slot?
@MikeSt: Dankie
Well done to all the boys and their parents.

@Grizzly: Sy seun is nie in squad nie.
@Hooit: @Greenman?
@MikeSt: Ek is. Baie van die ouers is glo ek. Net baie min comment.
@Smallies: Not me either
@MikeSt: not me
Congratulations to all the boys selected and also their parents. Enjoy the reward for years, months and hours of long hard work and never forget the support from your parents who has been there for you all the way.
As a matter of interest how many boys selected parents are on the Blog.
Well done to all. Feel sorry for David Cary and Tinus Combrinck.
Fezo Mbatha was also in the SA 16 squad a few yoears back (and the U17 elite squad too)

And the FS 7 was great ball in hand, on defence and supreme in the lineouts, very sorry for him.
@Rainier: True, Flip I thought Cary was phenomenal at CW and deserved a spot.
@Rainier: Have to agree about Cary. I believe it is the best I have ever seen him play. I always had a question around his defense but boy did he proof me wrong this CW.

@warriors7: I understand the thinking, I just dont agree with it.
And please leave Appollis at 13….

@Smallies:
N lekker Maandag middag uitstappie.
@Stier: Hugenote van Wellington.
@CharlesZA:my seun se dit was maandag teen Tranvalia gewees gekombineerde cherries, peaches span score was 50 33
@Smallies:

@BuffelsCM:
“congratulations are in order”. Indien ek reg is, sal jy verstaan.
@Smallies:
Dink hy skop beter as nogals, snaaks genoeg was hy die beste skopper U13 CW.
@Muzi:
Rikus can play 10, Hlalu on 12 and le Fleur on 13. Think Diego can play flyhalf aswell.
@Muzi:
There is a short list for player to join if there is a injury.
@beet:
Christopher did not play for one of the two SA teams in 2016.
If Christopher gets injured who’ll cover 10?!?!Nohamba ridiculous……
….where on earth is nkabinde hell even van der bank at 10?!?!…
Congratulations to all the young men that made the team. Good luck to all involved. Where is the coaches from?
@guts-and-glory: Sorry that was purely a typing oversight. Even though I’m from KZN I’ve known about Muller virtually since the time he was at Klein Gim.
@beet: thank you for the update
@beet: Beet, Muller du Plessis also played SA Schools in 2016
@VaskopVleuel: Tinus Combrinck and Prince Nkabinde were definitely 2 of the CW surprises for me.

@beet: Dankie!

Yes ! As always, there is quite a number of unfortunates who missed out. However, the team is now selected, and we need to support it.
Sterkte met die toernooi !!
Well done to all the boys that were selected and hard luck to the boys that didn’t crack the nod.
@warriors7: Diego still u17.Don’t know the rest.Maybe @Beet can help.

@warriors7: I think only 5 u17s there
Does anyone know who is u17 in the squad ?
Wonder who would play 8th man if Horne was fit.. great competition in the loosies
Wow, just one Blue Bull in the whole team.
