The Jansies & the Bere meet in one of March’s biggest games

First place in three of the four Tuks-Reeks groups are still up for grabs but the competition spotlight should be on Boksburg for one of the biggest matches of the whole schoolboy rugby season so far when EG Jansen takes on Garsfontein (Pretoria). When the Tuks-Reeks schedule came out last year, the winner of this Jansies-Bere match potentially has an easier path to the final by avoiding Monument (Krugersdorp). Now Monument heads into their group-decider against Eldoraigne without five starters who also happen to be five of the best players in the country according to the SARU talent scouting network. So the chances of an Eldoraigne (Pretoria) upset in that match are significantly higher than they might have otherwise been. Eldoraigne has a team that can “jol”. If they do top their group, they won’t be anyone’s pushover in the knockout stages, but certainly EG or Garsies supporters would probably favour their chances a lot more against Eldos than against Monnas. So long story short, the loser of the EG vs Garsies match may see the brigher side of their result come Saturday evening. Menlopark and Kempton Park battle it out top spot in Group-1, while HTS Middelburg and Nelspruit should be confirmed as the top two in that order, with Nellies having the far more difficult match of the two against Florida.

@Wonder: baie dankie.

I think all the games are going to be tightly contested, no cricket scores tomorrow.

@Greenman: 12h15, when I look at the above team I get the impression that Garsies are still trying out various combinations.

So there are definitely 2 Dian Coetzee’s on the EG bench. It’s not a duplication error. Both frontrow players.

@Crusader: The last info I saw was that his plane ticket was booked. Al 5 Monnas players are attending.

@Crusader: I have not seen the Affies or Helpies team lists yet. Perhaps their boys are staying put as well.

@beet: My sources told me yesterday allready that he wont attend the saru circus. Seems like a number of schools are going that route.

@Wonder: Good point. I wonder why his name was published in the official EG Tuks programme for Saturday.

Ag my tone krul van lekker!
