    @Gungets Tuft:

Any worse and the sled is going to hit you in the butt. I got 3/7 and in the top 25% of some of my pools. Go figure.

@Rugger fan: 2/7 – eeisch. So far behind that the leaders might catch me up by the 4th lap.

Well with 0/7 in the first round – I must be confident in my abilities in the latter stages of the competition and feel like giving you all a head start ??? 8-O

Another interesting new feature, perfect for ADHD okes like me. I should have actually shut up and used it to my advantage …

    Provisional picks introduced into SuperBru
    3 Feb 2015
Tournaments starting from February 2015 onwards will have a new feature – the optional ability to update a pick before kick-off (as long as you haven’t seen anyone else’s picks).

To date in SuperBru, picks have been final as soon you submit them. However, this has always led to some downsides:
    1. It is frustrating if a situation changes (e.g. a star player drops out injured) and you cannot factor this in because you have already made your pick
    2. To make the most informed picks, some players have tended to make their picks very close to the deadline. This risky strategy causes people to miss out when they are unable to thanks to outside circumstances (e.g. their internet connection being down), or miss them by a couple of minutes.
    3. Genuine mistakes are often made, and can’t be rectified except by pleading for mercy from SuperBru’s support team. People have an amazing habit of confusing teams with names that begin with the same letter – e.g. Cheetahs and Chiefs!

    Locked and unlocked picks
With the new system, we are introducing some new terminology. When you save your picks, they will be recorded as unlocked picks. If you do nothing further, your unlocked picks will automatically be locked when matches kick off and will become your final picks.

If your picks are unlocked, you will not be able to see what other people in your pools have picked, or view the community stats (if you could, you’d be able to go and change your picks based on what you’ve seen). If you do wish to see others’ picks, or view the stats, then you can lock your picks. Once your picks are locked, you won’t be able to change them.

How do I lock my picks?

Go to somewhere where you want to view other people’s picks – for example, in pool results pages, or in the community stats pages. You’ll see a control allowing you to lock your picks.

Do I have to lock my picks? Will they be saved if I don’t?

No, you only need to lock your picks if you want to see what others have picked, before kick-off. Once a match kicks off, all picks are visible and all unlocked picks automatically become final, locked picks.

Do I have to lock picks a whole round at a time?

No, picks are locked on a per-match basis. You can choose to lock some matches to see what others have picked, and retain the flexibility to change in other matches that you leave unlocked.

    A change in approach

“We hope that this new feature gives people more flexibility, and more opportunity to submit the picks they want at a time that suits them,” said SuperBru Founder the General. “Personally, for Super Rugby, I’m going to make some provisional picks on Wednesdays when I receive my email reminder, and then if anything changes later in the week, like a monster cold front submerging Newlands under a foot of rain, I’ll tweak my picks accordingly.”

@Woltrui: Eeisch boet, last year there were so many star…fish in front of me I thought I was snorkeling in Mozam. I reckon I could have done better if I had tried to get no points. I’m almost scared to try cosYcos I might have to face reality. It wasn’t even “pin the tail on the donkey”, more like smacking it on the arse with a banjo.

Pick time …. what competition is it again?

Besides, if I think about it I get it wrong .. pin the tail is my best strategy

@beet: … I see that there is a crown next to my avatar on the Superbru pool. Does that mean I have to carry that target for the whole season?
