Curwin Bosch is the Craven Week Player of the Year 2014

Grey High School, Eastern Province Craven Week and SA Schools flyhalf Curwin Bosch is the Craven Week Player of the Year for 2014.

Bosch had an amazing Craven Week along with number of his EP teammates.

EP went on to beat SWD 25-7 in the unofficial final.

Curwin Bosch becomes the latest in a line of backs to receive the Craven Week Player of the Year Award. Making him unique is that he is the first under-17 player (at Craven Week) to be honoured in this way.

Previous award winners:
2010: Johan Goosen (Grey College)
2011: Jan Serfontein (Grey College)
2012: Sergeal Petersen (Grey High School)
2013: Grant Hermanus (Paarl Gymnasium)

Here’s what some of our bloggers’ added back in July 2014 when asked- link: Who will be Craven Week Player of the Year for 2014?

@beet: This kid is really talented he should be quite a hand full this year and Grey should have a good year with the like’s of him and Vers and the boy arriving from Southdown’s (Ex Dale boy.)

But agree he need to check he’s defence when under pressure he seem’s to be vunerable there like the game against QC last year he fell apart under pressure.

    Good luck young man.

Curwin had an amazing run at Craven Week and proved his worth for SA Schools. He has some seriously skills: strong punt kick, clutch place kick, amazing long accurate pass, super speed, eye for a gap, signs of BMT. In spite of the outstanding achievements and the skillset, he has a bit of work to do on a few weak areas of his game. Tackling and staying focused rank high up. He needs to guard his channel better and work on being consistent and get a lot more urgent at clearing the danger when a ball is kicked in behind him and he is the last line of D. But I give him credit where its due, he was after all an u17 performing well on a mainly u18 stage last year. The best is just to stay grounded and carry on working hard on and off the field.

Very special player who deserves this accolade. If properly managed, I believe that he could go all the way. Well done Curwin!

@Murrayfield: Yes I blogged about him leaving Southdowns.

I heard from a reliable Noordvaal source that he is really good but that was a couple of years back when he had played Bulls Grant Khomo as an u15.

What do you make of the whole Southdowns (very small English medium private school) thing with them bringing in top school players from out of province only to have them play in the Beeld small schools division?

Beet, Curwin Bosch will certian stand a change to be nominated again. Heino Bezuidenhout from HTS Daniel Pienaar can be a candidate also. Remember the name of Kwezi Mafu, i think he returned to the Eastern Cape and if correctly joined Grey PE!
