@RBugger: I have followed the game of Warrick Gelant for two years, and have seen this young man run holes and circles through the top team backlines in SA. He just has this absolutely natural ability and feel for the game. This man will without a doubt earn that green jersey in the years to come. We have so many extremely talented young players in SA at the moment, I just hope that they are managed properly so that we can see them for many a year to come. Maybe not a bad idea to have camps for administrators as well, sort them and get rid of the ones that is not good for the game and the players.

The reason I put Kubheka at 13 ahead of Rohan is because I think Kubheka offers a little more in that position. They were in fact centre partners for SA Schools, however as Kubheka has played in the 10,12,13 positions at a provincial level, I think he is a much more complete player.

Pollard has the flyhalf spot wrapped up unfortunately, we saw during last year’s JWC that not even poor form will get him out of the team. So for me it’s between J. van der Walt and JL du Plessis for the deputy spot.

@Andre T: Pollard, hmmm, hard to say with him. He is very solid, is he predictable? He seems to like going on his own a bit, but one thing that comes with Pollard, is experience – vast amounts of experience.

@Muzi: I must admit, I have not watched Rohan much at all, from what I have seen of him, he does not seem a 13.

It will be great if he proves me wrong – but he would not be my 13

@Muzi: He did yes, but then he showed his power and strength. He just looks so much more intimidating than Serfontein. Wish he would just wear one size bigger shorts though. But he’s a growing boy. Getting bigger and stronger by the minute.

@Beet: Not only his speed, no disrespect to Rohan, but he is just not my type of 13.

I would rather have J Kriel there and allow for EW to perhaps have a run at full back.

Rohan is a big man and plays direct, it would be nice to have a 13 with a bit more of an open mind in terms of distribution.

With ROhan, if you stop him dead on the gain line, is he then able to adapt? I am not too convinced at this point, but who knows

@Tjoppa: Ons gaan nie daai ding wen met hardlooprugby nie. Skoppende flyhalves is ons game.

Kies du Plessis as jy wil gaan 7’s speel. Ek sal nie eers vir Pollard op die bench he nie.

Sal hom dalk bietjie game time teen Samoa gee.

I’m hoping that Gideon Koegelenberg comes good and earns a place.

Also surprised that Rohan Jv Rensburg considered at 13. A player does not have to be that quick to be a great no.13 but its always been an attribute associated with the position and Rohan does not strike me as possessing real speed.

The Battle for flyhalf will still be the most interesting of all.

As Muzi has repeatedly said Pollard is no longer as far ahead of his peers as he might have been at school.

Yet unlike Muzi I tend to think Pollard will still be picked, so it’s really down to deciding on who his deputy will be:

    The good kickers
    Jaco vd Walt
    Kobus Marais
    The good runners
    JL du Plessis
    Ryno Eksteen
    The long shot outsiders
    Josh Stander
    Ernst Stapelberg
    and maybe even Chris Smith

I thought Goudveld OB Shaun Reynolds proved himself to be a good player at Craven Week last year. He was already big and strong enough. But obviously not considered good enough yet to be included in the camp. Also maybe injured

If Massyn and Jano Venter make the squad I wonder if they’ll be roomies? They’ve been having a go at each other since u/14.

@Muzi: Du Toit at tighthead? He is a loose head prop – not sure if putting him at tight-head for a World Cup is such a good idea?

Romone was good at Paul Roos, since then, he has not been that impressive if you ask me.

Gelant, brilliant player but stopped a bit short against Maties, so a few question marks there, especially in NZ as the weather could play a big part, probably going to be very wet.

Mabuza is a good strong flank and has performed will in the Vodacom Cup, he could make a stand for sure.

Rohan at outside?? A bit slow for my liking, I would prefer a quicker 13

@Beet: Howzit Beet, I agree fully with regards to De Beer. He has been more than impressive – his work rate around the park is simply top notch and he has a great attitude.

To me, he has to make the final cut, if not starting, then as back up to Marx.

To move him to prop would simply be stupid, he can throw in the lineout!

@RuggaZ: I watched Chris de Beer 5 times for the Sharks u19s and thought he was great in all 5 games. I really hope he gets the nod. The guy plays with so much heart.

However just recently I was told he is being tested at prop by the Sharks junior coaches. Reason given by source was “can’t throw” which came as a big surprise to me coz I thought he managed this aspect of his game rather well at u19 level

Bothma is good, but Davis in the incumbent 8 from last year. I would like to see EW Viljoen in the mix, perhaps as wing as Kriel is no doubt going to start at 15, unless they move him to 13, Esterhuizen at 12, EW at 15
