Grey High appoint Hayidakis as interim coach

Message from the Grey High (PE) Rector regarding the 1st XV coaching set up:

TO ALL STAKEHOLDERS AND INTERESTED PARTIES

Please be advised that Mr Andrewe Hayidakis has been appointed as Interim Coach of The Grey 1st XV.  Mr Tim Fraser will be ‘on board’ again in 2014 as assistant.

Grey received quite a set back ahead of their successful UK tour when coach Rory Duncan handed in his resignation. Duncan will effectively be the man heading up the Free State Cheetahs junior programme starting in the new year.

Andrewe Hayidakis has been described as a Grey man through and through. He is well respected teacher with a great temperament and most importantly he is a top notch school rugby coach with a proven track record.

What aids this 2014 team is that 90 percent of the boys who will play in the 1st Xv next year have played under Hayidakis and Fraser already and had an unbeaten season back then. Also, there are a large majority who played 1st Xv this year, who are back for 2014, who have played a very demanding schedule this year as well.

I can’t go on any primary evidence but just hearing from a few reliable sources behind the seasons, this seems like an excellent choice by Grey. There will be a lot of pressure to deliver in 2014. Grey have a good team but they have also now transformed their schedule into one of the toughest in SA so the new coach will have to hit the ground running and keep up a good tempo from there on until August.

A great replacement for Rory Duncan. Andrewe and Tim have been an unbelievably good coaching team of Grey Juniors 13A team for years . Him and Tim have already coached this age group to one unbeaten season so it’s great that they know they boys. All the best !
