Paarl schools ready to fire in 2025

The Winelands region is overflowing with rugby talent, and Paarl stands as the undisputed Schoolboy Rugby Capital of South Africa. With three powerhouse rugby high schools in the area, the region continues to produce some of the most talented players year after year.

Boland Landbou, a farm school smaller than its counterparts, is one to watch in 2025. Despite their numbers, they boast a formidable squad with a big powerful pack and a set of backs who are more than capable of causing trouble. Rising coach Schoeman du Preez is sure to have good options and with the addition of acclaimed coach Christoff Lotter, who takes charge of the overall rugby programme, brings added experience and depth to their coaching ranks, they are in a good space.

As for the other two giants, the head coaches of Paarl Gim and HJS need no introduction. Boishaai will be keen to bounce back after a slightly underwhelming 2024 season and make their mark this year. Gim, on the other hand, have consistently been in the hunt for the national top spot for several seasons, and they will be eager to maintain their rich vein of form and push for another successful campaign.
