I’m not going to try defend the rankings above too much. It is what it is and I’m open to ideas anyone has.
So yes you are spot on.
A lot of emphasis is on margins for matches above a certain category.
So margins in relation to the quality of the opposition helps.
Rondebosch losing by just 8 to Boishaai is worth more than Stellenberg beating Parel Vallei but still work to do on the formula because it was worth the same as Drostdy beating Swartland.
In the minds of most, losing by 8 to HJS would be valued higher than beating Swartland by 24.

You asked last week, WRT Waterklook the penalising factor is their fixture list to date falls below a criteria for difficulty rating, so they do not get extra points for bigger games. The intention here is to try add perspective so that a school who is a big fish in a small pond, cannot advance to high up the rankings due to their fixtures being too easy. Not that Kloof is a small fish but playing in the early season NWU cup compo has guaranteed them wins but also means they cannot cash in on beating EGJ in the same way Paarl Gim beating EGJ did. Once Kloof’s fixture list difficulty rating goes past that first threshold, that win vs EGJ will become worth more.

n Mens moet maar nie te ernstig wees met die rankings nie ,volgens my is dit iets wat n lekker geselspunt is en dit is al,en ek glo nie skole bepaal die sukses of mislukking van hulle rugby program volgens die rankings nie …

Well, I guess Monnas now has 68 “one pointers” to strive for?

How does Rondebosch move up after losing against Paarl Boys, but Monnas absolutely plummets after losing against Grey? Is there too much emphasis on points difference rather than just results? I mean, the Boks won the World Cup with three back-to-back one point wins.
