The Blue Bulls u18 Youth Week teams are starting to take shape. They will be in action on Tuesday 30 May 2023 against the Valke on the Loftus outerfields.
As anticipated Affies and Garsfontein look likely to dominate the Craven Week selections.
The two main trial teams are dedicated to the u18 Craven Week and u18 Academy Week selection process. The other two trial teams have an u17 emphasis about them.
At the moment there is place on the main team bench for Pretoria Boys’ standout hooker/captain Shaun Schurman.
Waterkloof and SA School coach Cobus van Dyk is confident that his centre Happy Makate can excel at openside flank. It is a position that Makate played in the junior structures before switching to the midfield. In 2022, Makate was also picked on the side of the scrum for Craven Week.
Affies fullback Migael de Lange and Menlopark loose-forward Hanru Potgieter, who were both u17 representatives in 2022, are amongst the names missing.
The Bulls once again reply on their lower league schools like Cornwall, Heronbridge, Midstream, Overkruin and Sutherland to provide the players for colour needed to conform with the set youth week quotas.
