Also very happy to see Schoeman has made the Academy Side. He was like a one man army when MHS played KC.

Brilliant all round player and excellant in the lineouts! Perhaps an 8 instead of lock though

Morne at 13 for attack would be good, but he’s not the best at scanning the defense and a team like Bulls would pick up on that quickly. I honestly thought Else should’ve made it. Can also cover 12, and 10 if needs be. Physical, and quite quick. Not the best thinker in open space, but in a close game, he can make nothing into something.

@RBugger: True about Joubert. Good vision and distribution skills. I’ve met his old man. I think Morne is still going to grow and fill out a bit so who knows he could maybe still end up as a centre.

@Buffel: It is a surprise. Perhaps one of the others has played scrummy. I know Ellse was a scrummy a few years back but that was a long time ago. With the AW being in Durban, it might have contributed to the decision. A replacement close at hand if injury strikes.

there seem to be a couple of boys that if they were in a different region would have come close to selection. no cover at scrum half which is a surprise .

@beet: Ya true, do like Ngwenya.

My suspician with playing Else at wing for a while during trials, was that they were looking between him and Joubert as utility players.

So this is the question, do you pick Else, who is a bit more physical, or Joubert, who when he ticks, is brilliant.

Beet, I tell you what, I would love to see Joubert at 13!!! If he gets enough ball with a bit of space, he could keep Linde busy all day. The problem comes when Linde gets the ball, not sure about Joubert when it comes to defending

@RBugger: Ja. The ball didn’t really go Lindo’s way at trials and then he looked like he hurt his arm. I think the selectors got it right though in terms of chosing between him and Banele Ngwenya. Lindo’s done some good things but Banele even tho he’s smaller but is still the better option at this stage.

I’d love to know where Brad Ellse went wrong at trials. I thought he did everything he needed to and even believed that the reason they put him out on the wing was because he had convinced them and they wanted to test other players at centre. I was really surprised that he was left out.

What happened to Rupert Kay? I saw him at Academy Week last year and he was very very busy and impressive. Almost looked like a different player at KERF, no where near as busy – why has his performance dropped like it has? Did the captaincy have a bad effect on him perhaps? Last year, I would have had him as a certainty in my CW team for 2013

@beet: What about Ellse, what are your thoughts there? I really rate him! Possibly prefering Coetzee as he can also kick for posts?

@beet: Not the best if I am honest, in fact, I did not really notice him, but having spoken to a few of the KC boys, they said he was carrying an injury.

Apparently he will not be playing on Saturday either – I just really fancy an out and out speedster on the wing and he has plenty in the tank!

Must be honest, I only saw he play twice, but he really looked good on the ball to me

Ngcobo looked so thrilling against KES – surprised not to see him in the CW side
