DIGITV TO SUPPORT MONNAS’ CENTENARY FUNDRAISING
DigiTV is all about community and we were moved by how the community of Hoërkool Monument as well as the schoolboy rugby fraternity came together during the last week to help make the Monnas Centenary Festival a reality after it seemed that all was lost.
Blue Ribbon came onboard as sponsor to help cover the costs of hosting an event of this magnitude. The schools that were invited initially had no qualms about reconfirming not only their attendance but also their support of Monnas.
Monnas’ own community also came together and was an example of their school’s motto of Liewer Slyt as Roes (Rather Wear than Rust). Rugby festivals like this weekend’s prestigious event at Monnas are usually used to provide the school with a fundraising opportunity but we are in extraordinary circumstances due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Therefore, DigiTV decided to support the school in their fundraising efforts by charging its viewers for watching the Monnas Centenary Festival. Parents, alumni and schoolboy rugby supporters who want to watch the live streaming of the matches during the festival will be charged R50 per day or R100 for viewing access to all three days.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated towards Monument to help cover the costs of hosting the festival as well as hopefully adding to their fundraising efforts for their centenary.
All the matches will be available for FREE on video-on-demand (VOD) after the live event.
