Overseas based South African rugby players

South African domestic pro rugby over the next few weeks will serve as trials for this year’s Rugby Championship. In spite of being far behind Australia and New Zealand in term of preparations, talk is that due to “financial implications,” SARU is willing to send an inexperienced Springbok squad to complete in the demanding six matches over six consecutive weekends quadrangular test series to be held exclusively in Australia. As things stand with Covid-19 in South Africa, the rugby tour has a less that 50% chance of going ahead.

If domestic players are not allowed to travel and if SARU could turn to overseas based players, who would be on their radar?

Here is a list players who ply their trade in the top divisions overseas.

Also Springbok JJ Engelbrecht – Grey High – France.

Some players that I follow to add to the list (although some of them have qualified for other countries so maybe not “South African” anymore).
    Ollie Kebble, Bishops, Edinburgh
Francois Van Wyk, Boland Landbou, Northampton Saints
    Don Armand, Maritzburg College, Exeter
    Jarryd Sage, Wynberg, Ampthill
    Jan Uys, Paul Roos, Brive
    Dylan Sage, Wynberg, Montalbanaise
    Rob Herring, SACS, Ulster
    Marcelle Brache, Rondebosch, Western Force

There are a whole lot of players in Hong Kong as well that I am aware of
