I’ve been able to add two more names thanks to more assistance.
Interestingly they will be facing each other on Saturday as opposite numbers.

@Falcon22: Or conversely how the kids of players with great hand eye co-ords, often end up with the same skills and in the same position as their parent (flyhalf / fullback). I think you could be right that at times there is a degree of bias, based on who the parent is, be it sporting, business success etc. Its great seeing ex boks kids coming through, but think there may often be undue pressure on them.

@Vyfster: Never say never.

Just one question, if all those boys did not have well-known sports relatives, how many would not in fact be in the 1stXV?

@Vyfster: I’ll see your Marita Koch and raise the pot with Flo-Jo’s 100m and 200m records…which were also “aided” by a lot more than just a tail wind!

@Playa: yes, he is an prominent attorney, even councel for Bulldog lawyer Gerrie Nel

@tzavosky: Talking about the name, one of the humorous encounters Oom Grey mentioned back on R365 was when his nephew (William) Small-Smith was involved in an on-field collision with I think it was a Boland player (Jermaine) Kleinschmidt.

@Playa: That’s him. Their uncle was a participant on this forum (or maybe it was on R365) when William was in matric.

BTW, there’s an interesting story behind the surname Small-Smith – it used to be Smith only in the distant past. Their grandfather was a car dealer in Bloemfontein and known as “Small” Smith, but customers got confused and assumed the surname was S-S and many cheques were issued to Mr S-S, which were refused by the bank. So eventually he solved this problem by officially changing his surname to S-S.

@Vyfster: The young Ian sure has some gas in him. Now it’s clear where he got it from.
Is their father the lawyer, Ian Small-Smith?

Haastige manne gewees 8-O
Vir perspektief, vanjaar se o19 kampioe het 47.22 gehardloop
