SchoolBoyRugby Blog House Rules

This is overdue. A set of guidelines to ensure that the SchoolBoyRugby blog stays on course to delivering something that is meaningful and interesting in the context of school rugby rather than it deteriorate into a type of soap opera or MTV like reality show that is far removed from anything that is normal or liked. As usual nothing is set in stone. Everyone is welcome to add their views on what needs to be done to keep the quality of comments good without being rigid.

The SchoolBoyRugby Blog

The primary goal of this blog is to encourage CONSTRUCTIVE COMMENTS based on VALID OPINIONS being express and to have FUN.

Understandably there is a social networking aspect as well as a good deal of banter which is welcome as long as it remains above board.

There has always been an intention to promote a freedom of speech environment here but that right should always go hand-in-hand with an acceptable level of responsibility when commenting.

For this reason RESPECT is encouraged:
RESPECT towards schools
RESPECT towards school players
RESPECT towards school coaches, teachers and headmasters
RESPECT towards fellow Users

Please remember that just about all our top rugby schools and their support structures consist of good school kids, their loving families, a network of proud old boys, a hardworking loyal teacher staff and dedicated coaches. Your attempt to insult one individual by taking a dig at his school, can more often than not unnecessarily hurt all these others mentioned above.

Also please remember that this is School Boy Rugby played by school students. It is not Pro Rugby. Be sensitive and rational.

All USERS must therefore please refrain from:

  1. Running down players, coaches and headmasters.

  2. Delivering “low blow” comments i.o.w. going to childish extremes to win debates. Win by presenting a good argument and accept that there is a good chance that your fellow Users might be so stubborn they that no matter how right or good your own views are, you won’t change their minds.

  3. Taking out frustrations with fellow Users on the schools those Users support.

  4. Intentionally misrepresenting or distorting facts that could potentially harm the REPUTATION of schools, their officials or the schoolboys (and therefore parents and old boys)

REPUTATION is very very important to a school. Many schools have gone to extreme lengths to establish a good reputation and want to preserve it.

TROLLS are not wanted here.

I see that the Rondebosch vrs Paul Roos fixture for this weekend is incorrectly listed. It is actually a home game for Rondebosch this year, so therefore Paul Roos is playing away from home.

Miskien moet ons net weer in lyn kom!

Let us not forget that all the schools that we went to first teach us how to behave and act. Always remember that in this site, to some degree, we represent our schools that we are all so proud of. Good on you Beet

Ernstige beserings? Hoop nie so.

@BOG: @The Beast: Bog, the Beast se “Puth” laat my nou dink aan ‘n voorval. Oom kan prys wen as vraag reg beantwoord. Wat is ‘n Pe poe (Indiane plaas hul pyle in ‘n Pe poe. Koker)? Oom antwoord sonder om te aarsel. “n
Skuus Beet. Van die onderwerp af. Sal nie weer gebeur.

@QC86: On a completely non-SBR related note, but in no way meant either to offend or to discriminate against you and the people of Buluwilliam’s Town, I will be loading your nyama yenkuku next Friday. With regards to my comment, Mr Wol- should just be grateful that I chose -hol as a post-fix and not one of the many other options that the Afrikaans language offers.

Beet, just to add to what Wolboude said. Do you have any say as to where the beer tent is going to be pitched at WK ? Perhaps Gungets can use his significant influence to have it pitched where there will be good reception/signal and where you will have a clear view of the match in progress . Oh, and I hope that they do not open for business too far ahead of the Grey matches. Only one problem- most OGs are teetotallers and you wont find any in that area of decadence for an expert opinion, if and when required.

Ons onthou die een blog goed “Where are you men” “In the beergarden”. Helaas, elke telling is konsekwent deurgevoer.

An Afrikaans saying goes “Eerste geruik, het gaatjie gebruik”, , applied, primarily to a fart. But those who respond first—Personally, I believe that I am totally innocent. I have never deviated from the topic. If rugby is discussed, I continue on those lines, if a handbag fight is raging, I either dowse the flames or ad fuel, depending who is in the fight. In the tranquil FS, we are not accustomed to such behaviour and participation is denied me.
