The NWU-PUK-Rugbyinstituut Skole Skouspel brings together a unique collection of schools from around South Africa every year, including some of the teams that general end up being hot contenders for Top 20 rankings spots during the season. The teams are usually well matched resulting in some good contests. The big names in attendance this year includes Noord-Kaap and Glenwood as well as up and coming Garsfontein. Framesby and Glenwood were meant to square off on Day 3 but have agreed to cancel as they will both be in action at the Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival, starting on 28 March in KwaZulu-Natal.

Pas in elk geval lekker by my bi-polêre persoonlikheid met belange in beide die premier A & premier B liga en as bonus is daar meer rugbykyk geleenthede!
@BOG: Waar woon jy Bog?
Of is jy n misleide en misplaasde WP ondersteuner? Se net as jy daarmee worstel. I am a recovering victim.
@Woltrui: AffieDawie, ek hou jou dop….
@BOG: Hie hie hie. Nogal gewag vir die antwoord 8)
Ten minste kan julle rugby speel ou Bogter!
@Woltrui: Windgatte?
Sal in ieder geval ‘n goeie wedstryd wees.
@Greenwood: The schools with the best “gees” of course Pretoria Boys High- and their old boys. Those boytjies can sing
Woltrui
yes – Glenwood has this “Gees” feeling about it – many times I go and stand with boys on the sidelines during a match just to enjoy the comments and chirping and I can feel this gees thing
Ploegskaar – as a Glenwood Old boy and avid supporter your comment much appreciated
@Grasshopper: you might need to be pulling players from the hockey squads at this rate
@Grasshopper: Hi Grasshopper. No offense towards the Greenmachine intended. Up north we have a huge amount of respect for Glenwood and Maritzburg College. Always really gutsy and competative. We also love your “gees” next to the playing field

No problem if a team play against 10 top schools a year. To play 5 of the best in 10 odd days just seems to be a step to far.
@Roger, put it this way our 2nd’s went unbeaten last year and the 3rd’s and 4th’s might have lost a game each. In fact, if it was not for the politics the 2nd’s were better than the 1st’s and would have beaten them. Not too sure this year though. Depth will be severely tested hence why I think the coach has a squad of 30 and maybe why he is keen to ‘buy’ in some players to improve the depth…
@Queenian: not how I would describe it
think it is ludicrous – how’s their depth cos it is going to get severly tested
@Ploegskaar: Agreed there Glenwood must have balls with that fixture list
@Grasshopper: For all the criticism leveled here and elsewhere against Glenwood, few schools would have the balls for that fixture list. You need to measure yourself against the best to improve and eventually be competitive against the top 5 in SA, and this way is in my opinion the way to achieve it. Hats off and all the best to the GW boys (and supporters) for the season, much respect!
@Woltrui, you are spot on. The Glenwood powers that be obviously don’t really have a clue. There is no way the boys will be able to cope physically with that sort of schedule, it’s even tougher than what professional teams play. I get we want to test ourselves against the best, so maybe 3 top 20 teams in a season, but to play 10 or 11 of the top 20 teams in complete and utter madness. It really does frustrate me as it does not give the boys a good chance of winning as they will be playing with sore bodies every few days. I understand that in our 100th year back in 2010 we wanted to have a full schedule, but that is a once off. Drop Pukke at least….arg!!!
@Woltrui: @BOG:
The Glenwood supporters are going to have to answer that one. But honestly this is par for the course for them. They have one of the hardest schedules every year. However on 21 March madness they will still be fresh.
@Playa: With “not fresh” , we in the States, mean “dof”. But for some schools, who have a few of their players at CW, preceded by trials and a few more in the SA squad, the number of games played, are even more.
@Woltrui: YIKES!!!! I’d go with the latter.They couldnt have been fresh at all.
I reckon the Noord-Kaap v Framesby is a humdinger in the making.If their 2013 teams are anything like the teams they have produced in the last 2-3 seasons.
@beet: Glenwood seems to be on a Kamikazi mission Beet. Dont think any other team in the country went on a self destruct mission like Glenwood. Garsies (21/30), Hts Drostdy 3 days later, Paul Roos 3 days later, Selborne 2 days later and then, to put the cherry on the cake, Paarl Gim, 2 days later. I think Affies, Maritzburg – and Grey College are goiing to play against your 3rd or 4th teams come the end of the season. You Durbs boytjies are either very tough or you were not so fresh when that programme were put together 8)
Day 2 looks good. Glenwood will have a tough time against the donkeys
@Woltrui: Haha. Garsies met 15 teen Glenwood. Glenwood gaan daardie een wen. Glenwood ken vir Potch. Hulle gaan daar toe jare lank. Vir Garsies gaan dit ‘n nuwe ervaring wees.
Liplekker wedstryde: Garsies met 15 oor Glenwood. Noord Kaap met 10 oor Florida. Glenwood met 5 oor HTS Drostdy. 8)
@Andre T: Moenie Potch met Bloemfontein verwar nie Mnr T. Die Potchefstromers is n’ erg jolige klompie.
The people of Potch sleep at 9? I think they sleep most of the day, and year.
@GreenBlooded: No sorry I don’t.
@Beet: Do you have the program for the Gelofte Night Series which kicks off this week?

Jeez, those are some hard fixtures to add to the other 20 we have…..madness, no rest for the wicked. Why is the Framesby fixture crossed out?
What worries me a lot are the fixture times on Day 1. Most people from Potch and surrounds sleep that time of the morning.
There are 4 very unpredictable teams at Puk as well. Drostdy, Framesby, Florida and to an extent Louis Botha can surprise even the best school on their day.
@Roger: Definitely. Other issues aside. Garsfontein has been working hard at getting their rugby structures in place to do well, so their success is also being driven by school’s rugby programme not just the quality of players they have.
Garsfontein v Glenwood – should be a good match up given that Garsfontein reckon they have a very good team this year. I think another blogger said they have 11 players back from last year
