Porterville Sports Weekend 2017 – rugby fixtures

With annual participants Paarl Boishaai 1st XV, 2nd XV and under-16 away on a rugby tour of New Zealand, numerically small school Porterville turns to Cape Town schools Bishops and Stellenberg to provide the top quality rugby at their annual event. This year’s Sports Weekend might prove to be the quiet before the storm in 2018. In what could still become the worst kept secret before the year 2018 arrives, it seems like Porterville could potentially play hosts to a series of age-group matches involving a powerhouse from the South versus a powerhouse from the North.

@Proud OD: Here is the copy and pasted explanation:
Paarl Boishaai and Bishops play with their U14A and U15A teams on Friday evening.

Boishaai bring a 30 strong squad in both U14 and U15 age groups and their B teams play Klein Nederburg U14A and U15A on Friday Evening.

On Saturday Bishops U14A play Stellenberg and U15A play Hopefield.

On Saturday Boishaai U14A and U14B play New Orleans U14A and U14B, as well as their U15 A and B teams play New Orleans.

Boishaai played tough fixtures over the past 8 years on this weekend on consecutive days, but it did not bother the boys.

For the U14 teams it is their first games in their new colours ,so they just want to play.

The boys stay over on Friday evening in tents and on farms, so it is also nice for team building.

Every year the Boishaai parents ask if it is not to hard on the boys when they see the fixtures but afterwards their is no complaints.Ithink their squads are big enough and the coaches rotate the players.Bihops asked if they could do the same from next year.

@beet: Beet ! Yip ! What not to like for city dwellers to take a a short drive out to the country side ! Experience a jam packed programme of rugby and netball, hosted by friendly people, and having to choose between a variety of traditional SA foods, like potjiekos , braai etc. To cap it off, one can go home with fresh farm produce, at bargain prices. Lekker man !!

@Kattes-Strofes: Kattes it seems all rugby supporters who’ve been to the Porterville festival simply have to comment on the good food and hospitality. :)

One of the most enyjoyable experiences for schools and their supporters. The weekend normally produce some exiting rugby and the locals really go the extra mile, to make visitors feel welcome. Also, and hopefully again, some nice fresh farm produce on sale at affordable prices.
