There are a few interesting rugby coaching movements in the EP region.
At Grey PE
Graeme College teacher Allan Miles has accepted the Grey High Director of Rugby position vacated a year ago by Brent Janse van Rensburg, who joined the ranks of professional rugby and coached the EP Kings Currie Cup team in 2015. It wasn’t too long ago Miles was heading up rugby at St Andrew’s College in Grahamstown. His new job spec includes looking after the player pipeline at Grey.
At Pearson
Grey High Old Boy and former head coach Dean Carelse joins the expanding PE Co-ed from Westville, where he was 1st XV assistant coach for part of the 2015 season. Carelse will be a teacher and master in charge of boys’ water polo. He will assist current 1st XV rugby head coach Jaco Janse van Rensburg. The two worked together as the Grey High School coaches before his departure to Westville and Pearson respectively and are very excited to reunite as a coaching combination.
At Muir
Gert van Wyk, the Union High School in Graaff-Reinet 1st XV coach has joined Muir College. It seems like he might be assigned to coach u15A and will be Director of Sport at the Uitenhage school.
At Kingswood
Former Rugby World Cup winning prop Garry Pagel is set to become the forwards coach working alongside Gareth Shaw.
