Merry Christmas everyone

To all of you reading this blog have a blessed Christmas.

So much of what has been achieved this year has been made possible by the contributions of the regular active bloggers, as well as many generous folks, school officials, union representatives and on occasion supposed “rivals” (who like myself have hopefully come to the conclusion that it is impossible to cover the full spectrum of schoolboy rugby and do it justice as small stand alone websites – the opportunities for growth are still massive).

Without mentioning any names I would like to express my gratitude by way of a BIG BIG THANK YOU to all of you for helping to make the Schoolboyrugby Blog what it is.

May the year 2014 be a prosperous one dominated by the action on the field and filled with good memories of rugby continuing to be played in arguably it’s best and most enjoyable form – the way schoolboys play it.

Have a good one!

@Queenian: Yip, he made a wrong choice of school, but he was from a old Transkei trading family, which as you know, sent a lot of their boys to either Queens or Umtata High, which had a boarding house and a good rugby side. This went on until the early 70s. Yet another source of boys which Queens lost, even though a while ago.(The younger, would say, the “olden days”)

@Queenian: Thanks and for you as well. May your sheep grow the size of your cattle in 2014. You may call me “Old Oom” on one condition: You call your cuz Kenny Mac the same- we are about the same vintage. I dare you. I have admitted my affiliation with JJS, a long time ago. Goodness me, I was Dux in Gr. 9 there, at the age of 18. Thats what counted in my favour for admission to GCB the following year at 19. Sadly though, I lost my Old Queenian brother in law in the last month.

@BOG: To the “Old Oom” hope you have a great year and this be the year that you come out of the closet and admit you are a proud ‘JJS” man.

@Westers: All the best for the new year. Having come from a Westville background through primary and senior primary school only to be sent to KEARSNEY for my high schooling has left me with a lot of mates at Westville who’s sons are now playing . It is going to be a cracker 2014 season and cannot wait for our boys up the hill to do battle with our friends from other schools. Wishing all parents, families and boys a fantastic 2014 and may injuries be kept to a minimum.

Merry Christmas all and may 2014 bring great rugga played in the right spirit! Beet, you should do what Sharksworld does and have a donations section for bloggers to donate what they wish based on what they get from the site. I certainly would support you for all your hard work and being the great mediator you are…

Merry Christmas to you and your family beet. Thanks for a great blog. Look forward to a great season of rugby in 2014, hopefully played in great schoolboy spirit.
Special greetings to the Glenwood bloggers. Keep up the banter and may the 2014 game in March be a day to remember, not for the result but for the simple reason that so many boys will participate in a great day of sport.
Lets hope us KZN boys can bring home the Grogper cup.
