Grey College’s “bad year” ends

Grey College ended their 2012 season on a high note when they beat traditional end of season rivals Paul Roos 33-23 on Saturday. When the 2012 season started, Paul Roos was the last team on record to beat Grey and that was way back in 2009. Having gone unbeaten during 2010 and 2011, this 2012 season proved to be a below average year by the extremely high standards the Bloemfontein Bok rugby factory has set for itself. Nevertheless when examining their results this season, it still points to a very successful rugby season by every other school in South Africa’s rugby standards. The record is played 17, won 14, lost 3, points for 558, points against 279. Incidentally the three games lost were all against teams ranked high than Grey College this year, namely Gimmies, Boishaai and Affies, but even stating that Grey College ended the year as the fourth best team around makes it sound like a poor year for them.
