What on earth has happened to the list of “regional powerhouses” – the one which excluded the “Central region” ? Was it not Tjoppies flight of fantasy? Perhaps it was discovered that there are more schools from that “non- existent” region on this list than from the regions that were included ?

@Woltrui: This selection is a great indictment on how well the Bulls performed against a Brumbies….predictable

Their rankings may not be the greatest, but 365 had it spot-on with this quip on the latest FNB T20:
“We have stopped ranking Westville and Kearsney who are now playing soccer. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with playing soccer but it does not add to their rugby achievements.”

    4. Waterkloof / HTS Middelburg
    5.
    6. Nellies / Monnas
    7.

For any Glenwood supporter. Don’t look for your team on the log. Your team are disqualified for the week. The same with Westville. Thanks mainly to certain bloggers comments during the big fight(No names no pack drill). You will be in contention next week again, if you go on your knees and kindly apologise

Just a small observation of the common results between Westville and the no 1 Affies
    Affies Westville
    Grey High 28 -6
    Framesby 20 44
    MC 32 40
    PBHS ? 6
    Total ? 84
This means that Affies has to beat PBHS by more than 4 to outperform Westville. Is Westville “definitely” too high? Sorry I cannot agree and that is supported by all the other rankings. Look this is not a perfect science but BoishaaiPa has done as good a job as any.( in fact better)

okay okay- as I said it will never be accurate because everyone does not play everyone and number 5-20 can go any way on any day- that was just my observation, but overall this formula is very good.

@Gungets Tuft: No criticism of BHP and his efforts, it might be as good as it can be, I just know reality, that teams like Affies and PBHS will make a mockery of rankings when they play because tradition trumps form.

@jakes: College beat Grey High and lost to PBHS by 1, so one could argue all sorts of things. I think the rankings are a crock, too many anomalies throughout. Even in KZN where we have an almost league basis we can’t get agreement because 2 fixtures were missed, how you can agree anything with no common fixtures at all.

Tsk, tsk, spent 5 minutes writing this, will never get that time back….

@jakes: The Kings drew with The Brumbies. The Waratahs beat The Kings by 60 points. The Waratahs beat the Brumbies by 6 points.

Based on that info alone, should the Waratahs be ranked above the Brumbies?NO
WHY?Because there are 15 other matches that were taken into consideration.

Not to say that BHP’s method has no flaws…but what you have mentioned is not it mate.I do agree with you that it is tricky (very tricky) to rank anything outside of the top 5 though.

Props to BHP!This is the clearest, and dare I say it, the most accurate ranking system I have seen.

Just a small observation regarding scorelines- hence I said 5-20 can go anyway- There could also be other scorelines that counter my observation- but for now how I see it for instance HJS Paarl beat Paul Roos with one point. EG Jansen beat Paul Roos by 15. EG below HJS Paarl. Waterkloof also unlucky seeing that they beat HJS Paarl but yet below them. Hence I say HJS Paarl a bit high. Westville and Kearsney defintely to high if you compare scores to certain opponents. Just my observation. Not necessary correct seeing that the competition is so close this year

Jip- defintely not very accurate in 5-20th , taking into consideration that a school drops down if they had an off weekend- it could not guarantee accurateness. HJS Paarl , Kearsney and Westville definitely not in the right positions, a bit too high for all 3 of them..
