The usual suspects will line up for the prestigious NMI Toyota Noord-Suid in 2027, with Affies once again providing the stage for what has become one of the two premier schoolboy rugby gatherings in the country.

Amongst the newcomers, Grey High and Hilton will join the Noord-Suid line-up, with Hilton being the sole KZN representative. Grey will use the tournament as a lead-in to their trip to Saints for their festival, while Hilton are expected to feature at the St John’s Festival.

Fichartpark, Sentraal and Pietersburg will also make their debuts.

For some, however, Noord-Suid will be far more than another tournament.

Noordheuwel’s champion team, which has dominated across the age groups, faces arguably the toughest examination of them all. Paul Roos and Paarl Gim await at Noord-Suid, while a potential Interskole clash with Affies and a confirmed fixture against Garsfontein add further heavyweight challenges to an already formidable schedule.

That puts Noordheuwel firmly into the 2027 “Test Match” conversation — and that is before their Wildeklawer opponents have even been revealed.

Garsfontein, meanwhile, will be walking a familiar but equally unforgiving path. The Bere have been here before, and in 2027 they face Grey College and HJS Paarl Boys’ High — two of the biggest names in schoolboy rugby.

This is what makes Noord-Suid different.
