Hot property Markus Muller ready to ignite the Paarl Gim attack

Paarl Gim gets their schoolboy rugby campaign underway with a home match against Stellenberg on the Jan Kriel Field on 15 March 2025.

I still vividly remember 2018, when Dawid “Duffie” Kellerman was the midfield defensive powerhouse for Paarl Gim. Kellerman was a force to be reckoned with—strong on his feet, blistering in pace, and utterly ruthless in attack. Would-be tacklers seemed to bounce off him with ease, and it was a common sight to see the Gim star inside centre powering through defenders and bulldozing his way over the advantage line to create huge opportunities for his team. It didn’t get much better than that.

Fast forward to 2024—six seasons after Kellerman’s dominance—and somehow, Paarl Gim has managed to produce an even more destructive midfielder in Markus Muller. What makes this even more remarkable is that Muller has been doing it as a Grade 11, U17 starter! His ability to step into such a prominent role at such a young age is nothing short of sensational.

But what makes his 2024 campaign truly mind-blowing is the context in which he’s been playing. Post-Covid, backline defences in schoolboy rugby have significantly raised the bar in terms of tackle commitment and speed in closing down opponents. To be able to consistently break through such tight and aggressive defences speaks volumes about Muller’s raw talent.

Now, to think that Muller still has another year to develop—one in which he’s expected to be bigger, faster, stronger, and more confident—is almost unfathomable. To put it simply, there is only one way to describe him: A FREEK OF NATURE!
