KZN Sharks go to Main Trials 2023

Main Trial

  • U18 & U16 trial will be held on Wednesday 10th May 2023 at Hollywood Bets Kings Park.
  • The nature of this trial:
  • The format will be 2 x 25 minute halves with a 5 minute break.
  • Schools/Teams to bring a maximum of 23 players to this trial. The Tier 1 schools will select their 23 players.
  • Tier 1 schools are responsible for the playing time of their players. Players can be substituted at the discretion of the school.
  • The U17 Selectors A & B teams
  • Schools will nominate players for these teams. The best U17 players NOT in their school 1st teams are eligible for these teams.
    This team will be made up as follows:
    1. Any U17 player who is benching for any of the 1st XV Teams in action on the day.
    2. Any U17 player who is not part of any 1st XV squad on the day and who is nominated by the school.

    @ForeverHorseFly: Agreed. It would be nice to see a Probables vs Possibles list.

    @beet: I saw the list, it really doesn’t give anything away. It would have been better to see what those trial fixture team sheets look like, maybe they gave away the probables vs possibles.

    @ForeverHorseFly: Hi I posted it a few minutes ago.

    It does not really say much. There are 125 boys competing for 69 places in the two u18 teams and one u17 team, so its really hard to gauge anything meaningful from the list as it contains just about everyone who is in the age-band and plays decent rugby.

    @ForeverHorseFly: Agreed and the side will be very strong, might even be able to compete with the Bulls and WP. Depth everywhere. Maybe lock a concern again as usual…
