Clifton announces that former Westville 1st XV coach will be their new Director of Rugby

From Clifton College:

We have great pleasure in announcing the appointment of Grant Bell as our Director of Rugby: Coaching from 1 January 2016. This is a new position in the school and will involve Mr Bell in the formulation of a unique Clifton coaching strategy and the development of our boys’ rugby skills from Under 8 to Under 19.

Mr Bell joins us from Westville Boys’ High School, where he has taught for many years. In his time at Westville, he has occupied the positions of Director of Sport and Director of High Performance, as well as being a First XV and First XI coach. He has coached rugby at a provincial level from Under 16 to Craven Week sides and has been involved with the Sharks High Performance Academy for the Under 19 players. Mr Bell brings years of experience as a teacher and deep knowledge of the game. In addition to his sporting and coaching prowess, he was also, at a time, an English teacher and the Grade 12 Form Controller at Westville and is a member of the celebrated performance group, the Gee Jays. He is well known to all of us and we are delighted that he will be leading our drive to ensure that our boys continue to receive the very best opportunities in the sport.

Congrats to Grant and well done Clifton on making this appointment. I think Grant will add huge value to their rugby setup.

Personally I would love to see Grant being given a chance to head up the KZN High Schools Exec as Chairman. I think he’s the type of strategist with ideas that could transform KZN into leaders especially in preparation for the provincial youth weeks.
