Noordvaal u16 Bondedag Tournament touring team to Ireland.

Very few people outside the Northvaal region are aware that an u16 Academy Week occurs just before the annual Grant Khomo Week and has been going on for nine seasons now. This year it was held at the Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark and consisted of three matchdays.

The following Unions particate:
Bulls,

Hi, I was fortunate enough to go along. What a tour!! Compliments to the 2 couches. The second game was a mess. The team however managed to beat the ref the first half playing 10 vs 15 keeping them in their 1/4. With 9 yellow cards and 3 red cards the Ireland couch jumped in to assist calling his own players from the field to make it an even match. I really respect him for standing up for what’s right and for his sportsmanship. The tour was a huge success and a number of players raised their hand showing that we need to keep our eye on them. One of the dads will be posting photos and the games videos. I will provide the link once I receive same.

@Rugger fan: Seems cards were one sided against SA team. I am sure we will see many of these names come next season and beyond.
@Cappie: Well done to Affies on the top 10 athletic results. No’s 3, 4 and 5 also very close. Looking forward to inter-high next year.

Hierdie is nou nie rugby nie, maar die atletiekseisoen is goed aan die gang. Vir die Kapenare en ander. So bietjie nuus oor atletiek in die Noordvaal:

Affies wen die Top 10 atletiek byeenkoms by Naboomspruit.

Thanks BrotherBear. Sad to hear about the 2nd match. Were the cards on both sides – or skewed towards the SA team? Very unprofessional of the ref involved!

Would be great to see some more reports on the guys performances. Awesome opportunity for the boys.

Very successful tour for the Northvaal U16 team touring Ireland – 3 matches and 3 wins. Second game against Roscrea College on Saturday seems to have been an encounter Ruled by the Referee. RSA team going up by 24-17, but not after nine yellow cards and three red cards – true’s BoB. Word has it that he asked the RSA team captain to “F–k ..f after a certain query in the second half. Probably just a bit of washover following the England defeat – hehehe.
The third game against Blackrock, on Sunday, seems to have been a tough encounter in the first half but even though their bodies must have been hurting after the Saturday game, the RSA team pulled it through with a 43-17 win.
Hannes Nienaber (Media 24 rep and accompanying the Hansie team), was lyrical about the Mauritz Hansen (Hansie week) U18 touring team that performed well in Ireland but lost against Blackrock, stating; “No RSA team has won against Blackrock”. Well sorry to burst your bubble Mr. Nienaber, some overlooked talent proved their mettle by beating Blackrock convincingly. Well done to the team and management. Believe we will see many of these names come up again.

@Brahmaan: Have come to my attention that the team won their first game against the Connacht provincial U18 team (21-0). One of the dads mentioned that the team had only practiced once and had gelled immediately. Well done on a good win guys. Next games against the Roscrea College and then against the Blackrock College RFC (both in Dublin).

Hi everyone, I am new to this site. I must say that I have watched the games in Vereeniging and was impressed with the skills these boys have. Can confirm that we need to keep our eye on them going forward…

Very glad to see that Larko Lindes will be joining the tour group – I believe he plays flanker. Not very tall yet, but very skilful and quite fast. Could just as well have been in the u16 green squad ahead of his two school “loosie” peers. His inclusion shows that time and consistent performance will be the eventual equaliser. Seems a group from the Cape will also be touring Ireland just before this group. I think the cape group is u18?

@AffieOuer: I would be hesitant to send my son along this year as they might just get a call up from across the Irish sea after the Brighton blunder on Saturday. Good play makers are urgently needed.

Must say, its a wonderfull experience for the lads and they will remember it for the rest of their lives.

My son was given this opportunity last year, however they went to Dubai. The competition was not strong and did little for their rugby development. It was however a huge life experience and worthwhile from that point of view.

I think touring to Ireland will mean in terms of rugby exposure much more. Good luck boys!!

Waarom is daar nie een seun van HTS Middelburg, Middelburg of Nellies in hierdie span nie?
