For a bit of fun I asked a number of the die-hard Eastern Cape supporters to pick their team of the day from this year’s Graeme Rugby Day, a festival that showcases many of the Eastern Cape’s most talented 1st XV players. Bishops were the invited guests and a couple of their players also grabbed the attention of the locals Here’s the team arrived at by combining everyone’s input:

* Player of the Day
@Queenian: Ilano definitely not a lock
@Queenian: I was meaning to ask you if your boy played against Queen’s, I’m sure a teary moment for you
@Ludz: My son played against QC Under 14A on Saturday. QC won 25-14 they have a decent team just a bit small.
@Ludz: I hear Illano Smith is playing rugby again what is weird I hear he is playing lock any truth in that. At the Graeme day I saw him coming off the field at the end of the Under16 game but did not take note of what position he was playing.
Have seen QC Under15 A play 2 games now they a much improved unit from last year and actually have a very good pack quite big.
Those who usually watch schoolboy rugby with me know I love watching David Brits, 1 of my favourites of the last 2 seasons, but very surprised it came down to a split between him and Juan du Randt, because I though du Randt was the clear standout on the day, didn’t foresee a split there. Brits excellent on the day though. Apart from Matanzima who I could have possibly had at 1, pretty fair team
