Queen’s College Taunton (UK) is delighted to offer overseas school boy rugby players, aged 16-18, an opportunity to study and play rugby at the school from September 1st 2015 to mid December 2015, as part of our overseas sports exchange programme.
With a small pool of players to choose from, we are looking for players to add strength to our 1stXV during the 2015 season (September to December). Players would also study at Queen’s College, choosing the subjects that best match up with their studies at their current school. Players will need to seek approval from their current school, although we would make contact to discuss suitability and to how we would best support the player academically during his time with us.
Queen’s College Taunton (www.queenscollege.org.uk and www.queenscollegesport.org.uk) is a small independent school in the South West of England, with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, a proud sporting ethos and strong academic standards.
We offer a high standard of coaching with our 1stXV, and in addition have close links with Bath Rugby. An opportunity to join the Elite Player Development Group in the Bath Rugby Academy may be available. Players will also receive regular strength and conditioning training with our school strength and conditioning coach.
We will offer accommodation in a school boarding house or in a home stay with another player. All accommodation and food is paid for. We may also be able to help with subsidising the costs of travel.
We successfully trialled this venture this season with an U16 Dale College (South Africa) player, who studied and played 1stXV rugby with us in his off-season, before returning home, hopefully in a stronger position to play 1stXV rugby at Dale College in his sixth form.
If you are keen to experience an exciting and different sporting and cultural environment for a short period of time then please contact Mr Simon Copeland, Director of Sport, via email sjc@queenscollege.org.uk for further details.
@Queenian: I am not falling for that.
@BOG: Queen’s High School…and your eyes were not playing games with you. Unless cross-dressing already existed in the 1950s, that was definitely a girl that you saw.
There is a Queens in Johannesburg if Im not mistaken? For those who are looking for something cheaper. And they had GIRLS, if my memory serves me correctly, going back decades to my train trips. And Im CONVINCED it was a girl
@Playa: I think you must tell some of the Dale boys to pop up to the Queens this year for the rugby season hear they might need them.
Rock Spider’s son took part in this programme. My blood boiled the day I received correspondence that he was heading to “Queen’s College”
