A large crowd gathered on Goldstones, the home of Maritzburg College on a pleasant afternoon to see Sleepy Hollow’s finest take on Kearsney for the 68th time since 1943. The home team were outstanding. They played with passion and skills and must certainly have reminded many of the Red , Black, White old faithful of great College teams of the past. In the end they notched up a convincing 29-17 win, their 57th victory over Kearsney.…

The underdog status that the “Men in White” had going into the match was part of their motivation to secure the shock 29-25 victory over their much fancied opponents from Port Elizabeth. Hosts Northwood has beaten Hilton College for the first time since their outstanding first team led Michael Alison won 12-6 back in 1991.

This was a match of two halves. The first half belonged to Hilton, who played the far more constructive game in the opening 35-minutes and enjoyed territorial advantage. However they could not translate this into a lead on the scoreboard and changed ends at 7-11 down. Under the floodlights, Northwood upped their game considerably in the second half.…
