    @Vleis:

    Robert Ball (St Andrews captain and centre) makes it in his Standard-9 year (2013) but not in matric.

    Weird.

    @beet: Yep. To be honest, I think that you would get even odds on a St Andrew’s victory over the EP CD CW team, which doesn’t seem right.

    @Vleis: Yeah I also noticed that. St Andrews will challenge to be the no.1 team in EPCD this year but not one of their players good enough for selection.

    Wow, can anyone explain the strange decisions in the EP CD region?

    St Andrews have quite a decent team this year but do not have one single player in either the u18 A or B teams. However, weaker schools like Graeme College (who were clobbered by SAC and Parktown even 8-O ) have seven in the CW team, plus Kingswood and Volkskool GR have three and four in the CW team respectively. What gives?

    @spot: So true. When picking a team, it’s 22 A-team players. Those that pick 15+7 and claim B-team status for part of the tournament are often the ones that come short. Same goes for holiday festivals.

    Technically speaking, considering the squad system the School Weeks are based on, there is no first 15 and a bench. Very rarely do one see 1 to 15 on the field exclusively. Numbers 16 to 22 always in the mix.

    @vatikaki: Decent set of forwards selected, Kankowski, vd Merwe and Brown have caught the eye, worth watching them at CW. vd Westhuizen and Roets can count themselves unlucky not to be in the starting line-up. vd Bank (10) in the Academy team is very talented, but will probably feature next year, while Fick (7) in the Academy B team is probably the best player in the Boland and one of the best blindsides in the WC. Why he was selected there, is a mystery.

    @Vleis: @spot: At u16 level EP and EPCD are one team but for u18 CW they split into 2.

    Luigy from Marlow will fall under EPCD for u18 Craven Week

    @Vleis: Daniel Pienaar is in Uitenhage and falls under EP Proper together with Die Brandwag. I think they dont pick a CD side for u/16 Grant Khomo, only an EP side.

    Congratulations to all the boys who got selected for the respective squads. Make the EC proud boys! On and off the field.

    Really good to see such a wide spread of schools in the teams. Mmmmm….good or bad? At least there is still a period of approx. 6 weeks for the chaps to gel.

    @Wyvern: @beet: I assume that they have combined the EP and EP CD team this year given that there are numerous players from EP CD schools in the above-mentioned teams – e.g. Daniel Pienaar, Kingswood, St Andrews, etc.

    What is not good here is of the 6 Kingswood Grant Nkomo week players 4 came from Dale and one from Queens.

    One thing is for sure in 2 years time Kingswood are going to have a great year.
