It’s Paarl Boys High up next after Paul Roos for brave San Isidro

It looks like it might be a case of out of the frying pan, into the fire for San Isidro, the touring club from Argentina. Last Thursday they took on Paul Roos and this Friday they’ll pit their talents against Paarl Boys High (HJS). One thing is for sure, San Isidro will return to South America with the proud knowledge that they took on a couple of the best that South Africa has to offer.

Paul Roos signaled their intentions for 2014 with a very convincing 42-17 win against the tourists. The result was a huge turnaround from last year when the visitors beat the Maroon Machine 9-0. Paul Roos went on to be competitive in 2013 but never quite produced the desired results. This season ace coach Hein Kriek has a more talented group of players to work and a big big plus is the addition of Brendan Venter. As a coach and director of rugby affairs Venter is held in high regard in professional rugby circles both here in SA and in Europe. The ex-Bok brings with him a wealth of coaching knowledge and even playing experience. Paul Roos takes on Swartland this Friday, 14 March before they head to the WP Rugby Day at Newlands in just over a weeks time.

For HJS, this San Isidro game marks the starting point of their busy season. There is no point in drawing comparisons with the Paul Roos result at this very early stage of the season. Nevertheless HJS is not one of those schools that has many off days, so onlookers will be expecting to witness the first signs of positive things to come.

Here are the respective teams of HJS and PRG. Please note that HJS are without injured no.8 CF du Toit. The same Paul Roos team listed below will be rotated and used against Swartland on Friday.
