For what it’s worth, I agree with your assessment that Barnard is more of a hooker than a prop (or openside, where he’s also played!) – his future is probably there as well. I wonder what the current best 23 would look like from this group? I don’t know all of the players, but I’ll have a bash based on those I know:

    1. Prins
    2. Els
    3. Nagel
    4. Mlaba
    5. Burden
    6. De Villiers
    7. Van Zyl
    8. Wimble
    9. Booise
    10. Van Biljon
    11. Kepe
    12. Stumke
    13. Basson
    14. Nelson
    15. Mgedezi
    16. Barnard
    17. Makelele
    18. Salamousas
    19. Augustyn
    20. Ndamase
    21. De Villiers
    22. Behardien
    23. Letsie/Aneke

Actually incredibly difficult to pick the centres for me – there are some ridiculously talented players there. I hope we get to see Barker at 12 and Basson at 13 for WP – they should dovetail really, really well.

Thank you. You don’t think he will be used as a specialist 9 in 2026 where he really excelled as an attacking threat this year?

Caleb Bell played 9,11,14 and 15 for Rondebosch. He would be there as a utility back.

    Table redone.
I had my best bash at it.
Not sure about hybrids like Lehan Barnard who played both hooker and prop with much praise

    ALEXI TYROPOLIS MISSING?

Any ideas why Alexi Tyropolis didn’t make this squad? He had a great year with Grey and would’ve thought he would be in the mix.

Beet, do you have a breakdown of the squad by position? Obviously we all know most of the well-known players, but it would be good to get an idea of the overall make-up of the squad (and to get to know the talented guys from the smaller unions!).
