Any idea why Zachary Porthen & Ruan Swart have different shades of green for their springbok blazers? Dean Moodley (team manager) seems to have the same colour as well.

@apple: Oakdale & Outeniqua are definitely two quality sides this year…both top 10 in my opinion. My point was merely that the FS team had certain weak links that cost them…like the lineout throwing was quite poor…scrummaging too at times. I also don’t see Grey 1st team players miss 1 on 1 tackles like what happened yesterday. Just an observation….and I thought the ref was overly harsh on the men from Bloem….in that I am not saying FS are a better team than SWD…SWD might just be the best team at CW this year…we will see.

@Jakkals: @Jakkals: Perhaps the Oakdale Grey game was not an outlier or plaas bias. If there was only one school in SWD, they may have been nr 1 in the country given the importance of structures and execution according to the experts.

Hierdie tipe skeidsregters gaan die CW as skouspel sink!.

4 boys that played in the Jbay /13 team in 2017 was involved in the youth weeks yesterday.

    2xEP, 1xEP Academy and 1xWP Academy.

@Playa: And the beauty of these 1,3,3,1 and 2,4,2 patterns are that if 1 boy breaks the pattern, because he actually wants to play what he sees in front of him at that very moment in the match he gets into big trouble with his coaches, because now all of a sudden the following 2,4,2 cant be played because this boy broke the previous 1,3,3,1 pattern, which obviously then confuses everybody….but again what do I know, all teams are apparently playing this way,….except off course the Pumas.

@Playa: 1,3,3,1 and 2,4,2 are complicated patterns that who knows worked out to make rugby ultra boring and over complicated. It has something to do with props and locks running at the opposition and the hookers and flankers hanging around the wings to confuse the opposition…..but when you really want to confuse the opposition and your team mates you switch it around somewhat and you let the props hang around the wingers and then you call it a 2,4,2 and not a 1,3,3,1….as you can gather I know as little as you…and I bet you contradictory to popular opinion the majority of school boys playing CW and 1st team rugby dont understand it either. Jimmy Stonehouse couldn’t figure it out, so he just went on without it and won the currie cup.

@Wyvern: I had a few beers at the Highlander on Friday evening, but on Saturday I was mostly on the side of the sport fields, so not at the Highlander. That said, I did pop into the Albany to blow the froth off a few beers during the 3rd team game, which was being shown live on TV in the bar.

As it was a home game for SAC, the Wyvern was not really an option. If I make it down next year, I will certainly pop in to the Wyvern!

@OUD ANKER: you stand to be corrected, KZN Schools mostly consists off Glenwood Boys, but since the new Headmaster, they have been reduced to a academical institution. DHS is shopping in Pretoria, apparently on a 50% discounted basis, and Westville is dependent on Theo van Rensburg influance…in summary KZN Schools and their Craven Week Team will be nowhere, almost like their Currie Cup Team playing B -Division in the 90’s

@Kaya 85: Dare I comment that the Sharks have the most balanced i.e. representatives from the most schools in their youth teams? It will therefore be very interesting to see how especially the Sharks CW will perform. We’ve debated to length on this forum the fact that the Natal schools dont play enough games against schools outside their province. I think this CW week will go a long way to settle that debate.

@AntonT: 19 out of 23 Grey players in Free state – experts say they have the best structure and execute it the best in the world, so it will be tough for any team against the Free state. WP eg have 7 schools reps, so won’t have a chance given lack of structure and the second class execution.

:-D @Murrayfield: Hello Murrayfield. Ek hoop dit gaan goed ou maat. Ja sulke dinge soos off the field issues wat n span se resultate op bogger maak my sad. Verder lyk dit vir my of hulle basiese strukture n bietjie missing is. Dit lyk vir my missing hierdie jaar. Die kinders se koppe hang. Hulle lyk vir my low in confidence.

@Rainier: small correction, Michaelhouse scored with the last move of the game to make it 30-22 to Hilton. It was a great team try and nothing less than they deserved for a very gutsy performance in front of around 12000 people I reckon.

@Jakkals: Michael House was impressive yesterday in the scrums. They lost the game because of the passing aspects. You have 2 aspects in passing. Spin pass and floating pass. Spin pass is more for getting ball fast and accurate over distance and floating pass is for short passes. Michaelhouse lost many balls because of killing close passes with strong Spin passes.

@Playa: Howzit Playa. I attended my first ever K-Day! It was a very lekker occasion, which St Andrew’s won by 20 to 3, I think. The St Andrew’s boys were a lot smaller and came into the game as underdogs…but they tackled like absolute demons and executed their key plays better than Kingswood, who often took the wrong option, or muffed the last pass.

@Kerveros: Hello Kerveros. Mooi dag!

Ek is bly n Suid Afrikaanse span was n wenner maar goodness me hulle speel boring rugby. Dit het my net remind hoekom ek so mal is oor skole rugby. Anyway mooi dag almal! Schoolboy rugby rocks! Wens senior rugby wil n bietjie leer daaruit
