    ReplyReply
  3. @Zion: Gim se hokkie is net so goed die jaar.

Mens wil altyd in so groot game gaan as die underdog so PRG gaan kom met alles!

    ReplyReply
PRG sal 200% moet beter speel.

    ReplyReply
  8. @Jong Matie: Ek het nou ‘n blonde oomblik gehad. Ek lees ‘Sukkel met ‘n Niggie”. Dog toe eers dis dalk Mate se post, maar kom toe darem agter dis “niggle’. Brille is nie meer aldag genoem ondersteuning nie!

Lyk my of Louis Botha gegly het.

    ReplyReply

Ja in hierdie geval maak een swaeltjie n somer.Gim se 13 Gaan sy hande vol he.

PRG se saam speel by WK Gaan hulle baat.

    ReplyReply
As ek reg lees tussen jou lyne.

    ReplyReply
  15. @Grizzly: PRG gaan moet baie goed jol …..Almal gaan so aan oor Gim se backs ,my siening is dat dit hulle voories is wat die backline goed maak ,hulle het n bul pak…

    ReplyReply

  18. Hy is n klas outjie.

    ReplyReply
  19. Waar presies is hierdie Oakdale skool?

Gim is bevoorreg om so goeie 10 as “reserwe” te hê.

    ReplyReply

    ReplyReply

Also playing Pretoria Boys High today, all the dirt trackers, 11 games across all age groups.

25 Games in total which do not involve any A or B teams. Rough competition for the lower teams.

So 50 punte is vergesog.

  30. Wat het fout gegaan by Tygerberg Hoërskool? Lyk of hulle rugby nêrens is nie.

    ReplyReply
  31. @Gemini: Yes remember around the early 2010’s, they were where the likes of Stellenberg and Durbanville are now. A-team capable of holding their own against the WP Prem A schools.

  32. @kantako: Some nice predictions there Kantako

It looks like Nories have hit their straps based on the big win over Liggies. Middies are a good team though. Should be good but agree Nories favourites.

Paul Roos are playing well. I’d like to think that altho they are the underdogs, they will give Gim a decent run for their money.

I’m not quite sure what’s happened to the Donkeys but at WK they were not the same team that impressed at the start of the season. They need to recapture some better form. Bolandbou have a well rounded game now but hopefully the injuries stay away. BL favourites but if its in Worcester, HTSD will probably run them close.

DHS-Hilton what a matchup now. Can’t wait. Hilton have a great pack but DHS are battle hardened now. In the backs DHS has the more dangerous combos. Hilton favourites only because they have been more consistent this year.

Glenwood are unlikely to be dominated by the Westville pack. That will offer their backline more chances. Westville have to plug the holes on D. A more structured game will suit them better. Glenwood favourites.

The Rooibulle are going through some tough times. They will do well to keep it to 60 esp with Garsies not having delivered their most convincing performance during the last game. Expect the Garsies lineout to work a lot better than vs PRG and them to make plenty of visits to the in-goal area.

Monnas needs to find a fix for their backrow. Missing two high quality players there really set them back at WK. I think they will be too strong for Klofies. Hopefully Klofies can get max out of their players who stand up well in contact – 6,8,12,15.

I guess Nico Luus has his work cut out for him as the new HoR at Menlo. Helpies will enjoy playing against them.

Nellies to win by more against Kempies

No ways Trio is beating Beth Vories unless the latter has injuries.

Selborne a bit limited in attacking options. Grey to win comfortably.

Jeppe vs KES – can’t believe you didn’t include them  Should be a super game.

  34. @beet: hahaha apologies Beet I dont know too mich about the private boys schools in Gauteng.

Ever since the big Newspaper article WK has just always seem to have Monnas number. And if I read the thread about WK seeing so many Garsie players,Im putting my money on Kloof.

If ever Westville had a chance, now will be it.

Trio went big in recruiting DOR l3ts hope he gets his first big win against Bethl. Will also be good again for Kroonstad.

My heart bleeds for HTS MID who once was the power of the Mpumalanga region for many years.

  35. Beet,
Last week I managed to catch Wolmaransstad v Piet Retief – the game was streamed …
Please could you track these teams too this season.
They are both small town teams but they both played superbly in a fantastic, attractive and attacking game last week with Retief running out winners

  36. @Gemini: I believe he is. I think finances are the key to success. Here is KZN a few years back many folks were also of the opinion that the demographic changes were the chief reason for DHS’s rugby demise. Now several years later, DHS rugby is looking a lot stronger due to numerous changes and improvements that would not have been possible with a large budget.

In the Western Cape where rugby is the first choice sport of many, I’m sure a school like Tygerberg could get quite far if they had a sustainable injection of money into their rugby programme.

    ReplyReply
  37. @Kaya 85: It would be great to give more schools exposure as there are some people working in these institutions. For example our former KZN Craven Week coach once worked at a school called Kloof. The SAS chairman once coached a local school named George Campbell for 22 years who were on the radar up to recently thanks to great enthusiastic coaches like Antonie Prinsloo.

I unfortunately only have a limited amount of time to dedicate to this website, as its a hobby. I have a full-time job.

    ReplyReply
  38. @Kaya 85: I’m going to call Menlo beating Helpies a brave prediction.

An interesting one is what Northwood can achieve against Maritzburg College. College’s two best attacking players won’t start on Saturday. One may get limited time but won’t be at his best. It does over NW an outside chance to cause an upset.

Last time Bosch came back from the Eastern Cape having lost a match everyone expected them to win, they toppled Boishaai, so the Jade Brigade had better be ready for another of those backlashes.

    ReplyReply
  39. @beet: I also like Kaya 85 predictions of Menlo beating Helpies, I dont like either but given that this gr12 year group of Helpies won the Virsekerbeker every year I have to give it to them with a bad heart.

    @middies pa
I hold thumbs for you guys to win it, believe me I do, my brain just tells me NH should obviously be too strong

    ReplyReply
  40. @Middies pa: On the plus side a big positive is people are talking about Middies rugby. I doubt it would have happened without hard work being done at the school and the achievements of the team.

    ReplyReply
  41. @Kaya 85: great predictions…I’ll back all of them except two. I think College will take Northwood and I also think Helpies are going to roll Menlo….

    ReplyReply
  42. @kantako: Hold your horses regarding Waterkloof. Houston we have a problem. More info shortly……………..

    ReplyReply
  43. @beet: Correct. Many top coaches in the province have earned their stripes at small schools and working their way up. Jeremy was at Gelofte before moving to Kloof. Noel and Gerald have both moved up in the world from their George Campbell days…

Zander and Skye both did well at Kuswag & TMC before getting a gap at Westville. Mike de Kock went from Curro Hillcrest to Kearsney…And Mr BoisHaai structures Shaun Erasmus himself started at lowly club harlequins and westville B team before getting his big break at Glenwood….many examples. And this is great motivation to young aspiring coaches.

    ReplyReply
  44. @Kaya 85: Piet Retief always contribute some good players to the Puma Craven Week teams. They are not a team to be taken lightly.

    ReplyReply
  45. @Kaya 85: I agree with most of your predictions but…
    Maritzburg over Northwood
    DHS to beat Hilton
    Helpmekaar to beat Menlo
    KES to beat Jeppe

    ReplyReply
  46. Jeppe – KES is going to be a very interesting game. Jeppe lost most of their preseason games, then went and rolled Rondebosch. They have powerful, abrasive players who prevented Rondebosch from playing…they don’t always stay in a structure and can be prone to individualism and off-the-cuff, but will be determined and will front up physically, especially since they are playing at home. The northern end at Jeppe, and the north west corner of that field in particular is VERY intimidating with the spectators and rowdy supporters right on TOP of the field.

But KES, with what looked like a very limited group of players this year (no offense), have been very well drilled and disciplined in their play, and have won all but one I think so far this year, losing narrowly to Grey PE at their memorial tournament. KES’s forwards don’t seem like a threat at all, but there is something in their cohesion, structural discipline, with a touch of flair and ability to inject pace at key times that makes this KES team one to watch. Nowhere nearly as good as the side that beat Affies at Affies in 2019, but it will be interesting to see how they go this weekend …

  47. @Jakkals: Yes I think Sean Erasmus and another great product Andre Tredoux, now of Shimlas Varsity Cup fame both worked together at New Forest High once upon a time.

    Paarl Gim vs Paul Roos.

Waterkloof are not willing to play their First team and u16A sides due to a handful Covid cases. They are however more than willing to play their 2nds, 3rds, u16B etc.

What happend to using 2nd XV players when 1st XV players are unavailble due to Injury/Illness?

    ReplyReply
  52. I just think the intense physicality of Stellenberg can unsettle Rondebosch

    ReplyReply
  53. @kantako: I don’t know who you are, but you are talking a lot of sense in your posts.
But Monnas would have beaten a bit depleted Waterkloof if the match was played tomorrow. The postponement might however give some of Kloof’s injured players a chance to recover.

    ReplyReply

Batt doen skitterende werk by die ‘Jade Brigade’!

Hoe is dit moontlik by ‘n groot skool soos Paul Roos?

Hy is ongelooflik.

Smallies: Ek het Grey teen Selborne met my ander oog gekyk. Grey gaan nog ‘n verloor optel as dinge bly soos dit nou is.

  83. Wow. Wat ‘n wedstryd!! Ek kannie glo PRG het weer so ‘n comeback gemaak nie. Well done seuns!!

Kyk volgende keer bietjie rugby. Jy sal verbaas wees hoe lekker dit is.

Ek wou eintlik hoor oor Paul Roos se rugby diepte. Weereens. Ander spanne se uitlsae.

The DHS U16A played some brilliant rugby. A very good side and would love to see what they do in the next two years.

  93. @ForeverHorseFly: was rooting for DHS today, the 1st team came close! Big win for the u16s. Will be very interesting to see how Hilton respond. I expect there will need to be some mass recruitment happening to fix their 16A team. Seems they tapped off after the last few years intake. JHB schools watch out…
