@ForeverHorseFly: was rooting for DHS today, the 1st team came close! Big win for the u16s. Will be very interesting to see how Hilton respond. I expect there will need to be some mass recruitment happening to fix their 16A team. Seems they tapped off after the last few years intake. JHB schools watch out…

    2nd 0-13
    U16A 73-0
    U15A 20-10
    U14A 26-0

The DHS U16A played some brilliant rugby. A very good side and would love to see what they do in the next two years.

Hy is ongelooflik.

Hoe is dit moontlik by ‘n groot skool soos Paul Roos?

Looking forward to Stellenberg vs Rondebosch. Stellies is the one team that’s made steady progress over the past decade. They should now rightfully be a top 10 school.
And then Rondebosch every now and then springs a surprise on you. 2022 is one of those years.

Jeppe – KES is going to be a very interesting game. Jeppe lost most of their preseason games, then went and rolled Rondebosch. They have powerful, abrasive players who prevented Rondebosch from playing…they don’t always stay in a structure and can be prone to individualism and off-the-cuff, but will be determined and will front up physically, especially since they are playing at home. The northern end at Jeppe, and the north west corner of that field in particular is VERY intimidating with the spectators and rowdy supporters right on TOP of the field.

But KES, with what looked like a very limited group of players this year (no offense), have been very well drilled and disciplined in their play, and have won all but one I think so far this year, losing narrowly to Grey PE at their memorial tournament. KES’s forwards don’t seem like a threat at all, but there is something in their cohesion, structural discipline, with a touch of flair and ability to inject pace at key times that makes this KES team one to watch. Nowhere nearly as good as the side that beat Affies at Affies in 2019, but it will be interesting to see how they go this weekend …

@beet: Correct. Many top coaches in the province have earned their stripes at small schools and working their way up. Jeremy was at Gelofte before moving to Kloof. Noel and Gerald have both moved up in the world from their George Campbell days…

Zander and Skye both did well at Kuswag & TMC before getting a gap at Westville. Mike de Kock went from Curro Hillcrest to Kearsney…And Mr BoisHaai structures Shaun Erasmus himself started at lowly club harlequins and westville B team before getting his big break at Glenwood….many examples. And this is great motivation to young aspiring coaches.

@Kaya 85: I’m going to call Menlo beating Helpies a brave prediction.

An interesting one is what Northwood can achieve against Maritzburg College. College’s two best attacking players won’t start on Saturday. One may get limited time but won’t be at his best. It does over NW an outside chance to cause an upset.

Last time Bosch came back from the Eastern Cape having lost a match everyone expected them to win, they toppled Boishaai, so the Jade Brigade had better be ready for another of those backlashes.

@Kaya 85: It would be great to give more schools exposure as there are some people working in these institutions. For example our former KZN Craven Week coach once worked at a school called Kloof. The SAS chairman once coached a local school named George Campbell for 22 years who were on the radar up to recently thanks to great enthusiastic coaches like Antonie Prinsloo.

@Gemini: I believe he is. I think finances are the key to success. Here is KZN a few years back many folks were also of the opinion that the demographic changes were the chief reason for DHS’s rugby demise. Now several years later, DHS rugby is looking a lot stronger due to numerous changes and improvements that would not have been possible with a large budget.

In the Western Cape where rugby is the first choice sport of many, I’m sure a school like Tygerberg could get quite far if they had a sustainable injection of money into their rugby programme.

@kantako: Some nice predictions there Kantako

It looks like Nories have hit their straps based on the big win over Liggies. Middies are a good team though. Should be good but agree Nories favourites.

Paul Roos are playing well. I’d like to think that altho they are the underdogs, they will give Gim a decent run for their money.

I’m not quite sure what’s happened to the Donkeys but at WK they were not the same team that impressed at the start of the season. They need to recapture some better form. Bolandbou have a well rounded game now but hopefully the injuries stay away. BL favourites but if its in Worcester, HTSD will probably run them close.

DHS-Hilton what a matchup now. Can’t wait. Hilton have a great pack but DHS are battle hardened now. In the backs DHS has the more dangerous combos. Hilton favourites only because they have been more consistent this year.

Glenwood are unlikely to be dominated by the Westville pack. That will offer their backline more chances. Westville have to plug the holes on D. A more structured game will suit them better. Glenwood favourites.

The Rooibulle are going through some tough times. They will do well to keep it to 60 esp with Garsies not having delivered their most convincing performance during the last game. Expect the Garsies lineout to work a lot better than vs PRG and them to make plenty of visits to the in-goal area.

Monnas needs to find a fix for their backrow. Missing two high quality players there really set them back at WK. I think they will be too strong for Klofies. Hopefully Klofies can get max out of their players who stand up well in contact – 6,8,12,15.

I guess Nico Luus has his work cut out for him as the new HoR at Menlo. Helpies will enjoy playing against them.

Nellies to win by more against Kempies

No ways Trio is beating Beth Vories unless the latter has injuries.

Selborne a bit limited in attacking options. Grey to win comfortably.

Jeppe vs KES – can’t believe you didn’t include them  Should be a super game.

Lyk my of Louis Botha gegly het.

Mens wil altyd in so groot game gaan as die underdog so PRG gaan kom met alles!
