Thank goodness! Affies vs Klofies is back

There were a few years during which the two Pretoria powerhouse teams were not playing each other. Fortunately this period of “isolation” came to an end last year when the two schools squared off in a game squeezed onto the fixture list in March. Being so early in the 2012 season, Affies went in cold and Klofies reaped the benefits, winning a tight game 23-16. Affies went on to have a very successful year which included a win against Grey College. The win against Affies proved to be the highlight victory of the Waterkloof season. Even in the lead up to that Affies-Waterkloof match there was speculation that it would not go ahead plus there was no certainty that the fixture would continue in the future. The great news is that the derby is back in 2013. 25 May 2013 has been set aside. The date definitely beats having it at the start of the season but might suffer a little due to Blue Bulls Craven Week trials.  At least by May with the various festivals behind them the kind of form both are in would have been well established, which will add to the excitement of the buildup. The current record shows Affies ahead with played 37, won 29, lost 8. Waterkloof is a relatively young school though. It was established 1979 and their rugby quality has been exceptional in recent times. Affies was established in 1920. This game is going to be a BIGGIE!

Jammer daar is nie ‘n wedstryd tussen Affies, no 1 in Pretoria, en Monnas, no 2 in Johannesburg, nie.

The Noord-Vaal fixture list under FIXTURES 2013 on the menu bar has been updated to include all Waterkloof’s set matches.

Yes this is great and long overdue.
Hope we can establish good solid relations between our schools again.
Thanks to those who made this possible.
Rugby in Pta can only benefit from this.
    Maybe even further.
