Michaelhouse dealt a cruel blow ahead of 2013 season

Michaelhouse’s star Bruce Arnott has been ruled out for the best part and maybe even the entire 2013 season. The right wing whose outstanding performances during 2012 helped his school claim top spot in KwaZulu-Natal picked up a knee (ACL) injury last week. Arnott also represented KZN Schools with distinction at Craven Week last season. His form during the opening game against Free State during that tournament was particularly impressive. House is expected to run onto the park with very competitive pack this year. Amongst the forwards there is depth and therefore different combination options available to coach Michael Schwartz but it is in their backline division that they are looking a little vulnerable. Here Arnott’s speed, attacking prowess, finishing ability and experience were going to play a key role. Replacing a player of this calibre will not be easy.

@Grasshopper: Thats is always the risk with sport and teams must be able to get round them.

Hard luck on the kid, ACL injuries are very serious and can sometimes end careers for good. Hopefully he does proper rehab and can maybe see a game or two at the end of the season. Only problem is Michaelhouse only play in term 2 and about 12 games….poor kid…
