    @Pedantic: Palvie could play lock too, it’s all up in the air. Quma is ok, not in Palvie or Dixons class though. The GW lock needs another year, Academy at best…..

    @star: It’s all kinda surreal, but I must admit I miss those 50 over games on the glorious AH Smith oval.

    @Grasshopper: I was referring to ” the only one who could really match the big boys physically.” – not referring to Palvie at all, although I rate him highly both as a player and a decent young man.

    TBH, I think Palvie would be better as a 7, but I think that spot might be hotly contested :mrgreen:

    This year KZN have the luxury of some really tall locks in Sesink-Clee from House, Evans from Clifton and the new GW lock – they’re all going to have to raise their game to match Westville’s Qoma and Kearsney’s Lewarne/Meyer when the chips are down.

    @Pedantic: wait, wait I was talking about Palvie, no no8 can touch him at fully fit. Yes, the Kearsney lightweight locks did well against two greenhorn Glenwood locks, both grade 11. Venter played centre up until now, give him a year to learn his trade and gain a few kilos, he will be immense in 2016. At 198cm & 102kg he has the physique to do well at lock. Tristan will make KZN again at lock, KZN lacks good locks. I was a lock myself at school, 107kg and 193cm….

    Yes he is. Jared Meyer – son of Trevor. Coached him at Hillcrest when he was a lighty.

    @Pedantic: Is Meyer Trevor’s boy? If so good to see the strong Westville genes coming through :lol: Also you must be stoked on all the accolades that Tristan is receiving. He just keeps on going from strength to strength.

    @Grasshopper: Have to disagree, I think the U17 Kearsney locks outplayed the Glenwood locks both physically and in the lineout department.
    Meyer in particular is getting better with each game, wouldn’t be surprised to see him @ Woodburn in several weeks time.

    Most coaches who have worked with Tristan say he is an out an out #8 – he prefers 7 as he can get more involved in the physical game.

    @Buffel: hmmm Palvie might have a say at No8, human wrecking ball and he is carrying an injury! Lock for me…

    @Buffel:

    Totally agree. Remember he was a flyhalf until about Gr9 so has that entire skill set to go with everything else.

    @Grasshopper: 8th man for me, in the mould of Schramm. Big , fast and can cause havoc with ball in hand. A sight to behold when a boy of his size runs at the gaps.

    Awesome, well done Tristan. Kearsney’s standout forward vs Glenwood, the only one who could really match the big boys physically. Now for KZN schools to decide if he is a lock or a flank…
