Should the Virsekerbeker introduce a rule that stops an A-team school rugby player from representing two different schools in the same age-group?
How it would work:
An A-team representative who moved while the Virsekerbeker was in progress would have to sit out the rest of the competition.
An u14A, u15A or u16A youngster who switched schools after the rugby season was over would not feel the effects of the rule at all as he would naturally move up one age-group before the next rugby season.
Rugby players who had represented their old school at 1st XV level would then not qualify to run out for their new school’s 1st XV in the Virsekerbeker competition. They would not be blocked from changing schools and would still be permitted to play in the 2nd XV or a lower rugby team.
The rule would not have to be set in stone. A list of exceptions could be added or in unique cases, a delegated committee could be appointed to make a decision on whether or not to set aside the rule based on the circumstances of the transfer.
