BHP rankings by Region for week ended 16 May 2015

From BHP: The formulas and criteria stays the same, but this time I ranked the schools within their regions. So only the games they have played against schools in their own regions count for the results. A game won against a school outside your region doesn’t come into calculations and doesn’t count for your regional ranking. Thus this is the result, with the minimum of 3 or more games to have been played against school in your own region. Thus Grey College, Grey PE, Paul Roos and some others won’t feature in this current round because they have only played 2 or less games against schools from their own region. This is the result per region:

@BoishaaiPa: The decision seems to be a logical one. TV and radio coverage are unlikely to have the same effect on players. Radio is generally harmless and won’t influence a player’s personality while TV coverage can place undue pressure on a player.

A bit of a deviation. I question the stance of people who say the rankings are an evil but happily watch school rugby on TV.

@Buffel: Well, believing they should be in the top 50 is a different argument then. I am not qualified to comment.
Just one last point. If Super Rugby conferences were ranked purely on local derby games, it would be possible to have a team top their conference by beating all their local opposition (assuming they all play each other once), and yet be last on the overall log because they lost every other game. As long as the other teams manage to accumulate more points from their other games.
Too much for a Friday afternoon, I know. Enjoy the rugby, and the golden nectar.

@Playa: OK -understand but still cannot see KC being out of the top 50. Beer O’clock is around the corner. Going down to watch Collegians play against ‘Saders in a local derby and sure the amber liquid will flow.@Losbal: Hatchet buried. Just think KC should be in the rankings at least.

@Losbal: What is the reasoning behind it my learned friend. You can’t be half pregnant. We all know where we are regionally. We want to know where we fit in the greater scheme of things.

So Mr.Higher grade, why is Kearsney College not in the top 50? Simple question, just need a simple answer for my standard grade mind to compute.

    @Buffel: I think you’re missing out on beer o’clock

My understanding is the national ranking takes into account KC’s losses to Noord-Kaap, Selborne, Grey and Dale. KC’s only win against a non-KZN team was against Klerksdorp (P5 W1 L4)

Against KZN teams the record is P8 W5 L2 D1 – this is all that counts for this exercise. So have a look at Westville and College’s records in Natal, and chances are you’ll find that KC has done better than them…when the BHP categories are thrown into the mix.

But when you combine the 2 for the national ranking, you will find P13 W6 L6 D1…which then might present a different picture for KC, and compare that to the other 2 schools in question, thrown in the BHP categories, and Bob’s your uncle.

It’s beer o’clock on my watch

@BoishaaiPa: So you are telling me that regionally we are better off than nationally . KC doesn’t appear in your top 50 but regionally we are number 3 in the pecking order ahead of Westville and College but those 2 sides are in the top 50. I must be stupid not to have work it out. Silly me.

Kearsney College above College and Westville in the regional rankings but cannot break into the top 50. Surely something wrong here.

    Haai nee regtig mense…

    WTF!!!????
