Amazing generosity from the Zylstras. What Parktown really needs now is for some of their old boys to show belief in the school by sending their sons there.

ZAR20 bar and will match on a 1 to 1 basis any further donations up to ZAR4 bar – so likely ZAR28 million in total. Really wonderful to see – all three brothers and families flew out from Aus for a ceremony at the school. I have met the new Parktown headmaster and head of marketing. Both young dynamic old boys – very best of luck to them.

Paul Roos 68-3 Bishops. Bishops can’t compete at this level anymore, sorry to say. It was 40-3 at the break when PRG put half the Bituas team on to rest guys for next week. Still won the second half 28-0.

@Roger (Comment #52) I can’t read the article as I don’t have a subscription. The Zylstras were at Greenside Primary before Parktown High. That’s a massive donation though – wow! Hopefully, it’ll get the ball rolling for Parktown.

So last week Garsfontein took on Menlo. From the start it was clear that one team was going to play the man and the other the ball. The team playing the man “succeeded” to a degree. Late tackles, tackles in the air, etc. happened frequently and caused the other team to lose their flyhalf relatively early.
But justice prevailed in the end as one of their better players was just handed a 4 week suspension for a headbutt – ruling him out of the upcoming Blue Bulls trial matches. And his team lost the match by a large margin.
The question is: As the indiscressions happened frequently and widely, were they told to play “dirty”, or did they “independently” decide to do so?
I have no idea what the answer is!

Presies.

Ten minste is GCB se sokker baie sterk.

Glo dis alles in n goeie gees.

Affies altyd top 7 top 8 – beste program in SA by verre

@OupaPB (Comment #36) Hoekom ontwerp jy nie so stelsel nie.? OupaPB rankings?

@OomPB (Comment #6) Ai OomPB…you do realise that your argument has just made the festival games the only ones that should count!
    .
If the only games that count for the Wineland schools are their home games, the corollary is that the Noordvaal schools will only count their homes games. Thus, no games count…other than perhaps neutral games at festivals!

Agree @Farmer … Paarl Boys High is going to end the season with 8 wins from 14 games = 57% winning ratio … definitely not worthy of a Top 10 ranking.

I would think HJS & Oakdale with a 50% win and point diffeffence of 45 & 48 should be out of top 10 all other teams have a PD of more then 150 and more with a 75% win ratio.
Yes they played bigger games but still stats are not good.
Maybe the system works from laste year and dont start from scratch every year. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Ek dink jy moet dalk ophou Jongmatie se wineland water drink, hy jou moontlik vergiftig!

@Farmer (Comment #10) Using your logic Hilton should be no.1 with Charlie Hofmeyr at no.2 (only because they have 1 less win) followed by Gim and the rest. It is not that simple…

@Farmer (Comment #10) The system aims to take into consideration the quality of the opposition…if it didn’t then Hilton should have been ranked the No. 1 team in the country and I doubt that would be a fair reflection? Put-Sonder-Water could have a perfect record in a year but that doesn’t make them a Top 10 team. The system may not be perfect but it is not far off the mark in my humble opinion. Please tell me which of the teams outside the Top 20 will beat a Top 20 team…I had a look and couldn’t identify any.

Just look at the % of win to lose unless the system gives bonus for just pitching up.

Not sure how this is worked out on the algoritherm but dont make sence if you lose 50% matches and still in top 20 you cant get points for just pitching up at a match.
Maybe design a program thats better.
This is like you get a better handicap for playing in a windy day golf.

Paul Roos en Boishaai het dieselfde uitdagings. Stellenberg en Garsfontein het baie makliker wedstryde. Hulle sal seker bo eindig. Maar ranglyste is niks werd nie. Net dooie statistics.

At this point last year Gim was averaging more than 50 points per game and I thought that was huge. This team is achieving the same feat. But they have at least three very difficult asks ahead, first of which is next weekend.
