Thats exactly how I felt after the win against Selborne…only to be humbled by Hudson last weekend…and more pain to come in Queenstown this week…couldnt this season end on 9 August for Dale

I reckon it’s the latter.Biggest problem for EC SBR being the lack of union leadership or union visibility period.Schools in other regions will keep widening the gap for as long as union leadership remains absent in our province. The story is even worse for Border compared to EP.But they’re both pretty much in the same boat.

Mr X please tell me when this year’s matrics were even a top 20 side at age group level? Same goes for the 2024 matric group. 40% lineout win ratio is also a very bold claim considering the strength of the Grey maul the last few seasons.

Not the best, nor the worst. Having said that the general strength of EC sbr has been flat (at best) for some time. Or looking at it differently, other regions have possibly progressed faster and further than the EC in the last 5 years….

    KEMPSTON

If Grey can get rid of Kempston then they can rule the show they rule from 0/14 -0/16 all top 10 teams but then at the fist team they lose 40% lineouts for last 4 years.
They dont even play same gameplan in lower teams as fist team.

    EC RUGBY

EC schoolboy rugby. I can’t decide if it is the best or the worst in the country?
But it sure looks entertaining when looking at the weekly scores.
One thing is for sure. There isn’t any clear rugby King in this region currently, none seems to have the consistency to rule this kingdom for the time being.
Who is likely to become The King of EC over he next few years?

SARU WANTS RULES LIKE FIFA FOR JUNIORS LEAVING A COUNTRY

Ek het hierdie artikel gelees op Netwerk24.
My experience is that these type of articles are placed/initiated to start a discussion or hide reasons behind policies/selections. Not sure what to make of it?
In essence SARU wants financial reward for players ‘developed’ at school level that leaves the country.
This money ‘could then be returned to schools and clubs’.
I have so many questions (genuinely interested in facts and opinions):
    1. What money does SARU spend directly at schools for player development? I only know about Cravenweek, and that still costs the union or sponsors money. The EPD+ camps I understand to be SARU – but that is a select few.
    2. Has any school ever been rewarded for player development by SARU?
    3. Given that parents/school sponsors contribute around R50k+ per competitive first team player per year on coaching/games/tours/kit (what is this number?), why are parents not compensated?
    4. Who gets to decide that a player, that is overlooked or not selected as a junior, needs to pay? At what stage is SARU or the union contribution calculated and disclosed?
    5. What is spend on EPD and SA Schools? How much is contributed to development of players above coaching at the school – I get the recognition part and benefit of playing at slightly higher level.
    6. What would SARU compensate a player that decides to remain but does not have a contract? Or is the concern only about ‘big name’ junior players leaving? If so, why the need for this blanket rule if you do not have place/contract for a player?

Awesome win for Selborne over Grey. A great end to a very poor season. A lot of work needs to be done behind the scenes to turn our rugby programe around. But a win like this gives one hope.
