The talented Tyler Smith

Looking at the demanding schedule young sportsman face these days, it’s very rare to find a young man that will excel in more than one sporting code. Tyler Smith is an exception to the norm. Tyler is in Grade 11 and represents his school, Kearsney College, in four 1st Teams: Cricket, Rugby,Soccer and Rugby 7s.

Prior to Kearsney, Tyler attended Hillcrest Primary where he also represented his school in four 1st Teams (Cricket, Soccer, Rugby and Hockey). He was also the captain in all of these codes. Tyler sees himself as a cricketer and believes that he has potential to play at the highest level.
Tyler has represented KZN at U15 week and KZN U17. His main goal for 2012 is to make the U19 side for Khaya Majola Coca Cola Week. Tyler captained the Kearsney u15A and 16A cricket sides. He’s currently sponsored by Kookaburra.

His manager, Pius Nkosi, stated that Tyler is a natural sportsman. “I believe that he’s the best wicketkeeper in KZN and would be happy to see this lad make the Coke Week side.” It’s good that he’s a keeper that’s also excellent at batting. It’s every coach’s dream to have a Adam Gilchrist type of batsman.

Tyler has just returned from Bloemfontein where he attended the Cricket South Africa U19 camp. We surely look forward to hearing great things about this bloke.

Tyler is one of the best guys around. Very humble, a good guy! Rare traits and will surely win him many friends and admirers where ever he goes. He was such a pillar for my guy this year, as was Khubekha, also a simple humble guy!

@kcob: Agree with beet – all the feedback from these clinics is very positive.

The cost is high, but if you look at the personell involved it makes sense – experience like that doesn’t come cheap.

With all these accolades, Tyler is still one of the most humble and respectful young men I have met – a true life champion! It would be no surprise if he was named as head boy for 2013.

Looking forward to watching his progress over the next few years – wish him all the best.
