@vyfster… Nou bring jy weer memories terug van die Moot …..4 jaar daar by Adelaars deurgebring saam met Andrew & Raymond Williamson ,Koos Gouws,Theuns Koekemoer ,Franna Cillie en ander … Goeie tye gehad daar in die Moot…..verstaan die klub het nou n ander naam…..die tyd gaan net te vinnig verby….
To irritate ploegskaar a bit more…..consider the following comparison
Garsfontein pl 18 w 11 L 6
Boland Landbou pl 17 w 9 L 7
games against teams who was or is on top 10 (remember Bishops, nellies, HTSM etc were at some stage of year in top 10)
Garsfontein pl 8 w 4 L 4
Boland pl 8 w 2 L 6
so why is Boland at 12 and garsies at 24, with reasonably similar records, garsies a bit better?
Answer lie in wrong categories of schools they played against….which influence the points you earn and your average, and unfairly disadvantage one team above the other…..It will be somewhat rectified before the final rankings.
for example….BL played and beat Wynberg which is cat 5….and thereby gives their average a healthy boost….meanwhile Wynberg stumble fro one heavy defeat to another and doesn’t deserve cat 5 ranking this year
Meanwhile Garsies played and beat Marais Viljoen which at cat 2 actually brings down garsies ave….whilst Marais viljoen was ranked above Garsies up till this week (and Wynberg doesn’t even make top 50)
BL’ s win against a not so good Dale (cat4.5)…..means far more than Garsies win against Helpmekaar (cat3.5)…..
Furthermore Garsies actually gets penalised for playing against a festival team at St Johns and teams like Pietersburg and Ermelo…..because their grading is not that high
So those 2 teams should actually be fairly close on the rankings, with garsies just above BL (depending on their oakdale fixture)….and with the recategorising before final rankings, they will move closer…..but probably not enough
@Kosie : nevermaaind 2 weeks ago they were still at about nr 33…with about 10 other northvaal schools ranked above them.
garsies had aterrible start to their season losing 5 of their first 8…..but that is only part of the problem re the rankings.
the bigger problem is the wrong categories schools are currently in…..it will change before the final rankings and a slightly different picture will emerge, which will be more accurate
So the Noordvaal champs are only rated at 24.
I know the ranking takes all games into consideration for the year. So the results of the begining of the year can either help or hinder a team at the end.
