2014 was a strong year, Koos Tredoux, Kenny Van Niekerk in the front row, Kevin du Randt at lock. The loose trio was immense too, James Venter, Mac McMillan (ran over okes) and of course Jaco Coetzee (the best No8 I’ve seen after George Cronje and Rikus Bothma). Curtas Jonas, Ilunga Mukendi and Morne Joubert were a lethal back 3. Morne for me the best fullback the school has produced, unfortunately never really made it after school. Glenwood will be back, watch this space…

Agree. I saw the 2014 Glenwood 1st XV lineup. Amazing team, including a young James Venter at 6. Yip interesting to see how schools ebb and flow and respond in relation to each other. Sure Glenwood will be back.
From a KZN POV this shows how there have been some shifts in power over the years. Both Kearsney and Glenwood right up there, close to MBC, while currently both now sit at the bottom end of the KZN table, while DHS and Northwood (who were ranked here no. 58), have now risen up the ranks, with DHS in particular taking the lead. Hilton and Michaelhouse have also made big strides since the early 2010’s and have both had very dominant teams in recent years.
I remember playing against that HTS Middelburg team from 1998 at some point during high school. We were a medium school from the platteland, but managed wins over teams like Waterkloof and Monnas, so we fancied our chances. However, that was the biggest hiding I have experienced on a rugby field, both on the scoreboard as well as physically. Massive boys 1 to 15
@Beet, several old boys have messaged me indicating that Paarl Gim was nr 1 in 2004 and 5th in 2003. Great idea to go back in time to see whether it is different to the recent years. interesting to see Affies at nr 2 and Biships at 10
Anyone have the rankings or the top schools from 1997?
A golden year for Bosch of course, keen to see where the team was ranked on the list
2004 Grey High team was very strong. Only lost to Selborne in the last game of the year. Beat Grey College at home that year.

It took Glenwood pumping them all by 50s to get them to wake up. The Green Machine will rise again!

Very cool thanks Beet.
