@Redblack White: I have no doubt that the replacement boys will come to the party…Fortunately its not the last game of the season so that the team can finish off as a unit.

@BoishaaiPa: I think you might be in for a pleasant surprise because 5 non-regulars will get a chance to stand up and be counted.

A couple of years ago College had a flu epidemic at the BE and played Hilton with less than half the regular first team, and of course the first were not the only ones affected so in some cases boys did a double jump. We still lost to a Hilton side who had Cameron Wright pumping balls into orbit, but I think the Hilton guys will tell you that, although victory was sweet and in the end fairly comprehensive, it was never easy – the stand -ins played like they had never played before – expect something similar from your stand-ins on the day and I think the team will be super motivated to retain their record

    We beat the unbeaten

    Blame it on the ref

@BoishaaiPa: Yes it will be a pity if Boishaai lose their unbeaten year under these circumstances……at the end of the day Oakdale will always know it was a ‘soft’ victory. Anyway however……I still think Boishaai is mentally too tough for any other side this year…….well done to Sean and Elmo

@Andre T: Some Key players will be missing, but I think the boys playing in their stead will step up to the occasion and be noticed, Oakdale must not expect an easy game without our 5 SA School players…Hope they can find an EP ref to blow this one and not one of the locals from SWD.

@Kattes-Strofes: O! I forgot to mention. Outeniqua will now represent SWD. in Die Burger’s competition.

Drosdy will be Boland’s representative for large schools. Not sure who will represent EP.

All Die Burger’s finals will be played on 29 Aug. at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch.

@ingoal: You are quite correct. Oakdale has withdrawn from Die Burger’s competition because they have agreed that their Interschools match vs. Boland Landbou can been moved from 22 to 29 Aug.
to be televised as part of Premier Interschools.

However, they refused a request from Boishaai to pospone their scheduled fixture of 15 Aug. to 22 Aug.[ when they will now have a bye]. The reason given was that their Akker festival is held on the 15th. and the Boishaai match forms a big part of the festival.

Well, Boishaai always honours their commitments, unlike some other well known schools who cancel matches for lesser reasons. The match vs. Oakdale will therefore go ahead on 15 Aug.

Just a pity that both the Boishaai 1st. and Second team, who worked tirelessly this season, may well lose their unbeaten record against a powerfull Oakdale. It is not only the 5 Boishaai SA School’s players[ which forms the backbone of the team] that will be missing. The one flank, J C Van Schalkwyk, was also concussed on Saterday Their preparation for the match will furthermore suffer greatly without their influential head coach, Sean Erasmus, who is also the SA School’s forwards coach. In the near future, no-one will know the circumstances surrounding the match. their is no remarks colulmn, just the score.

But as the saying goes. ‘Cowboys dont cry’ and I am sure that the replacements wil represent their school with pride and dignity and put their bodies on the line.

@BoishaaiPa: I thought it would be EP vs SWD and WP vs Boland in the semis?

Will be interesting to find out who the Boland representatives are for the respective compos. I’m not sure if Worcester Gim qualifies as a Large School. If not they must be favourites to meet Brandwag in the final.

@ingoal: Wrong speculation. Two weeks ago it was already on the cards that the game might be postponed because the two teams will play each other in Die Burger Semi if HJS wins Interschools. That would mean that the two games would have been played within 2 weekends of each other, much like what happened in 2011 and it was agreed then that it was silly to play the same team twice in two weekends!. It also happens that HJS will not have 5 players and their coach available and it would of course benefit them to have the game postponed.

Am I correct in assuming that nobody can overtake Boishaai anymore even if they lose against Drostdy and Oakdale….or can Paul Roos still squeeze past if they beat Boland and Grey Bloem?

i like the way Michaelhouse moved from nr10 to 7 since their season ended…..their ave point of 3.73 will obviously remain the same……if Monnas lose against Eldo’s this weekend, and Grey bloem against Maritzburg (unlikely, but you never know)…..Will those 2 team’s averages drop enough for MH to slip temporarily in 5th place…..or conversely will victory for Bishops against SACS, Selborne against Dale or Nellies against Garsies be enough to improve their points to above 3,73?
Thus can MHS lie anywhere from 5-10 next week depending on other teams results, or are they safe in 7th for time being?
