Muir College field is huge!

So with the rain and poor weather in the EP resulting in several local fixtures being cancelled, I was told how valuable the rainwater would be for the fields in Kariega (Uitenhage) at this time of the year. Even though the three well-known schools from the area are fairly close together, Muir College apparently dug a bore hole a while back and struck water, while Daniel Pienaar did same and did not. Brandwag don’t seem to have chanced their luck yet. Anyways while looking at the locations of the three schools, I could not help but notice how huge the field at Muir is. It measures 476m using the Google Earth tape measure. It’s the kind of space most schools only dream of having. I was wondering if anyone know of a school that had one continuous field that could compete in size with this one.

Some Impressive schools and their facilities , if you go back to tbe 80s ad 90S and check out schools form various towns Like Estcourt, Dundee , Mooi River ( Weston Agric College) had awesome and sporting facilities. Look at the Durban schools , like GW, DHS, NWood they have maximized their limited space and have great facilities, schools like MC, St Charles in PMB are luckier and vast space of sorts facilities.

@beet: And that is not the only one, over 30 schools here that would make St Johns look new. Stowe have 27 tennis courts! Bedford School, Tonbridge, Millfield, Rugby School, Haberdashers Aske, Whitgift, Radley College, Epsom, Wellington, Millfield, Dulwich, Oakham, Oundle, Sevenoaks, Barnard Castle, Sedbergh, Cranleigh, Chelternham, Haileybury etc etc

@Grasshopper: Wow for anyone who thought that St John’s College or one of the W/Cape schools with the mountains in the background was picturesque, that sight of Stowe buildings from the rugby field is something else. Truly special.

Yeah agreed Queen’s has pretty impressive lineup of sports fields but they are not really one field split into parts, they are numerous fields at different levels

I saw Noordheuwel field now split into parts is about 260m long

Hilton College between their cricket oval and the last pitch was probably one field at a stage in the past is 500m end to end.

Many years back there was a high school in Durban named Mansfield. That school had a huge field

Looks about 6 rugby fields next to each other, for a small school by numbers that is big. Obviously Kearsney, Michaelhouse & Hilton have huge campuses too. Grey Bloem must have 6 fields too. City schools over 100 years old have been surrounded & have limited space eg DHS & Glenwood, max 3 fields each. Some campuses here in the UK are massive, one even with its own golf course!
