@QC86: I wonder if Beet has a strip for JJ Serfontein or i suppose he could just use the Grey Bloem one seen the two school have a student swop program ask Blog/Rugbfan they both did a finishing off year there for good behavour from Grey.

He can just use the Grey one and put burglar bars under the Grey College.

@rugbyfan: Agree with you there Grey PE/Brandwag and Selborne will have big packs this year.

Queens come the 21st March vs Brandwag might have to find some forwards or hope Brandwag have a bad day otherwise it will be a long day at the office for them. The Kudu might just get there butts kick there.

@rugbyfan: The other bad news for Westville and anyone else playing them is that Grey PE are also looking enormous in the pack. Rumour is they might be up 850kg 8-O

These games are brilliant to get the players back into taking hits etc. Strangely enough, if you can ignore the stop start affair it is, rain actually is good for these pre season games. It becomes a slower more physical session and helps the bodies get into rugby without the high speed knocks that would happen if it was dry. To be honest, I prefer the short version that is played in PMB, with no finals etc, than the Durban series. To put pressure on the players this early is perhaps looking for injuries. If the coaches an players can treat these games for what they are and not put too much pressure on the outcome then they will be the eventual winners. Maybe Westville hould have had on more run against a Linpark or Greytown if they are about to head for a festival? When is the Graeme Festival?

@star: Westville 1sts are due to play Greytown at Voortekker on Friday 1 March, so will get 2 games. I must say that I would not read anything into Friday night’s result. There were many missing players from both sides and quite a few changes during the game, and the conditions were poor. A good excercise, nevertheless.

@star: Star it might have something to do with the WBHS 1st being involved in Graeme Rugby Day in Grahamstown and the coach just wanting to pace the boys in the lead up to that difficult game against Grey PE.

@Grasshopper: Yes I think Westville missed a kick to beat College last year. They are warm-up friendlies but the coaches and players get a lot of the games even a match like this one played in poor weather can provide good experience for later on in the year for a match where similar conditions prevail.

Are these not just friendly ‘warm-up’ games so don’t really count. Also, didn’t Westville also beat College in this same tourno but then lost heavily at home in the ‘real’ season……just asking so please don’t shoot me…
