Things didn’t go according to plan for the KZN Academy team on Day 1 in Wellington. They went down 34-19 to South Western Districts, this after being just 14-15 behind at the halftime break. It seems like disciple was a major cause for concern with no fewer than three yellow cards being issued to KZN players during the match.…

Wellington in the Boland is the venue for this year’s provincial under-18 Academy Week running from 02-05 July. The match days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, so it’s quite congested and will be physically demanding on the players.…

The KZN u13s bounced back in the best way possible from an opening day defeat at the hands of the Valke to beat the hosts Free State 26-12. This certainly sets a good precedent for their u18 counterparts to follow when they meet Free State at Craven Week.

Well it’s a long way to go on a bus for a warm-up game, so hopefully the KZN Schools team and management got some sort of value out of their trip down to East London. KZN 62 Border 3 is how the game ended.…
