Wanneer speel die spanne.
Last year it was on the 9th of June. Not sure how this year’s rugby/holiday time line corresponds to last year, but I think it is at least another two weeks.
@Kudu (Comment #16)
WP usually wait very long to announce. Wouldn’t be surprised if we only hear midway through June
Any idea when teams are announced after yesterday’s trials?
Ongelooflik. Het hulle al verloor vanjaar?
@Snelvuur (Comment #13)
@Grizzly (Comment #11) Hierdie u16s se backline lyk next level gevaarlik.
@Snelvuur (Comment #10)
Eers weer in ’28…wait,dan is hierdie /16 in Matriek?? Maak dit’ 29 op Wildeklawer….
@Mate (Comment #9)
@Snelvuur (Comment #6) Is Albert Nel nou eers gr 11? Hy is goed hoor Ek raak nou al bang vir jul span in 2027
@beet (Comment #7)
I’d actually like to see JP Immelman at 13 with Nel at 12. Nel’s very much in the Ethan Adams mould and JP Immelman is very much in the Markus Muller mould. We’ve seen how well that combo works together. Especially because we’ll likely have Stoffels (u16 now) at 10, it’ll also be helpful to him to have a big, strong and experienced 12 on his shoulder. We’ll see how it shapes up, but I think a 10-12-13 axis of Stoffels-Nel-Immelman could be outstanding.
@Snelvuur (Comment #6)
Won’t JP Immelman occupy that 12 jersey and be an SAS candidate player?
My dark horse for the Craven Week B-team is Albert Nel from PRG. I can’t think of a player that has improved more during this year. He was decent at u16 level last year, but nothing special. This year, he started in the Bituas and only got a shot in the first team because of injuries, but, boy, he’s made a mark. Energy, power, clever running lines and a very low error rate. I could see him being one of the premier schoolboy centres next year.
I reorganised the order of the list.
I’m surprised the SACS props were omitted. It does seem surprising that there are only 14 POC forwards who are possibly competing for as many as 10 CW places across two teams.
That’s not even looking at AW.
So I’m guessing there are quite a few players in the mix from WP B league that have to be added.
@Raps (Comment #2) Agreed that Van Biljon will be in the side, but I don’t think he’s been the best or even second-best 10 in the Western Cape based on his performances this year. There have been quite a few games where he’s been completely off the boil and made a few poor errors. I think he’s probably a 15 in the long-run and would urge the selectors to pick him there as well.
@Raps (Comment #2)
Rhode has been exceptional, agreed. I think he is u19 this year though
It was always going to be tough. Rhode from Stellenberg has been a joy to watch, super unfortunate for him. SACS 8th man Stefan Kruger is also having a fine season and is unlucky to miss out. Big selection headache at 10 and 15, I’d go with Van Biljon.
Noticeable lack of POC depth at prop and lock this year. That could really paint the selectors into a corner. As a result, I’m struggling to see how Le Roux and Van Zyl – arguably the two form loose forwards in the WP – can make the A-team together. Really difficult choices awaiting the selectors.
