Paul Roos’ Ireland tour was about Growth and Unity!

Paul Roos are on the verge of making the much awaited 2024 schoolboy rugby regular season debut against HTS Drostdy on Saturday, 16 March.

The Maroon Machine team is expected to be red hot this year.

Some of the really important groundwork has already been laid as far back as December 2023 when they boys toured Ireland.

Head Coach Corne Uys spoke with a tremendous amount of pride about what was achieved on the successful tour and pleasingly enough seemed to enjoy the big character building experience the rugby boys had away from the rugby field just as much as on it.

“I’m proud of how they took the opportunity and embraced it.”

Exposure to different culture broadens horizons and gives new perspectives. The travel will serve them well in life.

Essentially the tour meant that two age-groups, u16s and u17s got to know each other a lot better, form new friendships and learn more about themselves. The difficult circumstances brought on by the harsh Ireland weather was seen as a positive as to paved the way for fundamentals in the set pieces and breakdowns to be worked at with a greater degree of concentration in order to keep execution at a good standard.

All-in-all it was an excellent opportunity for Growth and Unity!

Now these qualities get to play a part as the season starts.

Playing Drostdy and then traveling to Pretoria to face Affies at Affies in 7 days’s time ought to thoroughly test this team.
