Northwood’s Craven Week prop

Northwood didn’t officially have a player at Craven Week 2015 but they might be able to claim a share of Griffons prop Neo Mohapi. Mohapi had represented the Knights 1st and 2nd XV for a good part of their 2015 season. He however did not return to the Durban school’s boarding establishment after receiving permission to go home for a weekend and instead (re)joined his hometown school of Welkom Gymnasium. It’s alleged that Mohapi was promised a Craven Week place in the Griffons team to make the overnight switch. Mohapi featured in the Griffons Craven Week team that recorded an upset win over neighbours Free State before losing to Western Province in the the unofficial semi-final. Mohapi struggled with knee trouble during the KZN season which kept from cementing a Northwood 1st XV place and he was not selected by Northwood to attend KZN’s North Durban Zonal trials in May.

In 2014 Northwood achieved great success through 1st XV prop Ngoni Chidoma who made the SA Schools team after performing well for KZN at Craven Week. Chidoma represented SA in under-18 internationals against England and France. Chidoma was expected to start for the Sharks in the under-19 Currie Cup competition this year but his name is yet to surface on a team-list after two rounds of competition.

    @Grasshopper:

    I see the ‘other’ thread dealing with alleged dodgy recruitment is up to 37 comments already (a few of them your own :roll: ). This one only 6. I wonder what the difference is?

    @GreenBlooded: I heard he went to Glenwood first – after they offered him a 3 bedroom apartment and BMW. But after he arrived he was in contravention of the HMA – so he had to go back to the Griffons…… They were just helping him out :-P :-P :-P :-P

    This shouldn’t be allowed, surely a kid needs to have played at least a season to play for a province!
